Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end setup and launch of a new distribution centre operation.
• Identify and evaluate suitable warehouse facilities to support initial and long-term requirements.
• Develop warehouse layouts, storage strategies, inventory flows and fulfilment processes.
• Design scalable omnichannel fulfilment capabilities for retail and e-commerce.
• Evaluate, select and implement WMS and supporting technologies.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and scalability.
• Develop SOPs, KPIs, manpower planning and organisational structures.
• Manage migration, readiness activities and go-live execution.

An exciting opportunity to establish and lead a new distribution centre that will become the primary logistics hub for a growing retail and e-commerce business. This role combines greenfield warehouse development, WMS implementation, fulfilment optimisation and operational leadership within a fast-evolving omnichannel environment.

As part of its next phase of growth, the business is investing in a new distribution centre in Johor Bahru to support expanding retail operations, growing e-commerce demand, and future international market expansion.

Description

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be responsible for designing, building and operationalising a new distribution centre in Johor Bahru that will serve as the company's primary fulfilment hub. The role offers the opportunity to shape warehouse strategy, operating models and technology decisions from the ground up.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the end-to-end setup and launch of a new distribution centre operation.
• Identify and evaluate suitable warehouse facilities to support initial and long-term operational requirements.
• Develop warehouse layouts, storage strategies, inventory flows and fulfilment processes.
• Design scalable omnichannel fulfilment capabilities supporting both retail replenishment and e-commerce operations.
• Evaluate, select and implement warehouse management systems (WMS) and supporting technologies.
• Drive warehouse automation and process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Develop SOPs, operational KPIs, manpower planning and organisational structures.
• Manage warehouse migration, operational readiness activities and go-live execution.
• Partner closely with regional leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across supply chain, retail, e-commerce, finance and technology functions.
• Manage relationships with logistics providers, warehouse vendors, technology partners and external consultants.

Profile

The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in distribution centre development and warehouse transformation, rather than purely managing an established warehouse operation.

You should possess:

• Approximately 10 years of experience within warehousing, distribution, fulfilment or supply chain operations.
• Direct experience building, expanding, relocating or significantly transforming a warehouse or distribution centre.
• Strong knowledge of WMS implementation, warehouse design and systems integration.
• Experience supporting both retail distribution and e-commerce fulfilment operations.
• Understanding of automation technologies and warehouse productivity improvement initiatives.
• Exposure to Malaysia-Singapore logistics operations and cross-border supply chain activities.
• Strong stakeholder management and project leadership capabilities.
• Willingness to be hands-on throughout warehouse setup, vendor evaluation and implementation phases.
• Ability to operate effectively in a high-growth, transformation-led environment.
