Allowed for the successful candidate to lead and oversee leading‑edge governance frameworks for Data, Model risk and governance for AI use in OCBC Malaysia, ensuring compliance with BNM Data Management and MIS Framework and Group BCBS 239 initiatives. The role is expected to lead a dynamic team to entrench the standards and controls encapsulated in the enterprise‑wide Frameworks for Data and Model Risk to meet its regulatory obligations and digitalisation objectives.
The candidate will lead the Data Management Office (OCBC Malaysia), driving Data Governance, Data Quality, Model Risk Management, and AI Governance to ensure effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and trusted data for business decision‑making. The role requires close collaboration with business, risk, technology, and governance stakeholders across the Bank to strengthen data and model controls, ensure data is fit‑for‑purpose, and drive the governance of the OCBC Malaysia’s model and AI use, aligned with regulatory and governance requirements. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills is required, with the ability to engage effectively with GDMO leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders across the Bank to build consensus and drive pragmatic, win‑win solutions that align with the bank’s strategic initiatives. The candidate will concurrently oversee and lead multiple strategic governance initiatives, continuing to nurture a strong risk culture while ensuring the highest level of compliance with state‑of‑the‑art controls.
Group Risk Management operates independently to safeguard and strengthen the OCBC Group. It enables sound decision‑making through rigorous risk analysis, optimises risk‑adjusted returns, and thereby helps maintain a strong competitive edge for the Group. By adopting best‑in‑class practices and keeping risks within appetite, the team protects the Group against unforeseen losses while supporting sustainable growth.
Degree in Data Science, Technology, Mathematics, Finance, or related discipline. 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Model Risk Management, AI Governance, or Risk Management. Proven leadership experience in financial services or other regulated industries. Strong understanding of regulatory expectations, data governance frameworks, model risk, and AI risk management.
