OCBC Malaysia is actively advancing AI and analytics to empower decision-making and customer experiences. The Lead Data Science role guides a team of data scientists, partnering with stakeholders to identify high-impact AI use cases and to deploy scalable AI solutions across the bank.

You will design and scale predictive and generative models, apply NLP/RL techniques, and translate complex analyses into actionable business recommendations, driving measurable value.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science or related field.
• 5+ years in data science or generative AI solutions development.
• Proficiency with Python and ML libraries; SQL knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the data scientists, providing technical guidance and career development support.
• Partner with Group to localise, implement, and scale AI solutions within OCBC Malaysia.
• Design, develop and deploy AI-driven solutions including GenAI copilots and recommendation engines.
• Build, validate and scale predictive/generative models to address business opportunities.
• Explore agentic AI concepts to automate workflows and enhance customer engagement.
• Analyze large-scale structured/unstructured data to uncover actionable insights.
• Develop clear data narratives and visualisations translating analyses into business recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable AI/analytics solutions with measurable impact.

Job Description

Lead the Data Science team in driving the adoption of AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics across the Bank. This role is responsible for managing the data scientists, working closely with Group and local stakeholders to identify, prioritise, and deliver high-impact AI use cases that generate measurable business value for OCBC Malaysia.

• Partner closely with Group to localise, implement, and scale AI solutions within OCBC Malaysia.
• Design, develop and deploy AI-driven solutions, including GenAI copilots, recommendation engines and RAG-based applications.
• Build, validate and scale predictive and generative models to address business opportunities and operational challenges.
• Explore and apply agentic AI concepts to automate workflows, support decision-making and enhance customer engagement.
• Analyse large-scale structured and unstructured data across multiple business domains to uncover actionable insights.
• Develop clear data narratives and visualisations that translate complex analytical findings into business recommendations.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to co-create scalable AI and analytics solutions that deliver measurable business impact.

Skills Required

We are seeking individuals with the following types of skills:

• A degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in data science or generative AI solutions development
• Strong technical expertise in Python and modern ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn); familiarity with SQL
• Experience with deep learning, NLP, or reinforcement learning, and exposure to big data technologies such as Hadoop or Apache Spark
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior business leaders, translate business needs into AI opportunities, and provide data-driven recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
• Curious, collaborative and outcome-driven mindset, with a passion for applying data and AI to create business value.
