Job summary

RIA FOOD SDN BHD is seeking an Assistant Sushi Chef for a Halal Japanese restaurant in Shah Alam, Selangor. The role requires basic sushi making skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced F&B environment, with a strong sense of responsibility and willingness to learn.

Experience in Japanese cuisine is an advantage. You will prepare sushi, maki, and other Japanese dishes, ensuring freshness, hygiene, and Halal compliance while collaborating with the kitchen team and following SOPs.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of sushi making.
• Able to work in a fast-paced F&B environment.
• Responsible, hardworking, and willing to learn.
• Experience in Japanese cuisine is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and make sushi, maki, sushi rolls and other Japanese dishes according to the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
• Prepare Japanese steamed egg (Chawanmushi) and other basic Japanese dishes.
• Ensure all food is prepared fresh, hygienically and according to Halal requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene of the sushi preparation area and kitchen equipment.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before preparation.
• Follow food preparation, portion control and presentation standards.
• Assist with ingredient preparation, stock checking and daily kitchen operations.
• Work closely with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth service.
• Follow all company SOPs, food safety and Halal procedures.
• Perform other kitchen duties assigned by the Head Chef / Supervisor.
