Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc in Malaysia seeks a settlements professional to support back-office activities in the settlement space across products such as debt securities and cash equities. This role drives operational excellence, verifies trade details, and ensures timely settlement across global markets.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve fails, monitor settlement risk, and uphold internal controls while contributing to process improvements and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree or diploma; higher qualification welcomed.
• Minimum 12 months in a supervisory role with team development experience.
• Experience in Global Securities; supervising Debt securities, Equities borrowing/lending, settlements and trade processing across APAC/EMEA.
• At least 18 months of hands-on securities background.

Responsibilities

• Resolve fails and discrepancies with brokers, counterparties, and custodians.
• Monitor settlement risk and escalate issues as needed.
• Investigate and resolve cash and position breaks.
• Issue cash and non-cash margins; ensure exposures are adequately covered.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support audits/regulatory reviews.
• Consult with internal/external stakeholders for exceptions.
• Respond to client queries related to trades and settlements.
• Review and rectify incorrect instructions for pre-matching.
