Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Customs Coordinator to manage vendors and ensure timely customs declarations in Malaysia. You will handle pre- and post-clearance activities, coordinate documentation, and drive accuracy and efficiency in billing, duties, and permits.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in freight forwarding or customs customer service, strong English communication, and a solid understanding of Malaysian customs rules. Shift flexibility is required to support operations.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in freight forwarding or customs customer service.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in customs house brokerage or related field.
  • Proficiency in English and strong communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of customs processes in Malaysia and HS codes.
  • Flexibility to support shift work, including day/night/midnight and occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vendors to ensure timely customs declarations, KPI adherence and SOP compliance.
  • Coordinate daily flow of documentation and obtain permits and OGA approvals before submission.
  • Handle pre- and post-clearance activities, including billing, duty/tax disbursements, and digital filing.
  • Identify bottlenecks early and engage clients to minimise port storage or demurrage risks.
  • Maintain and govern client SOP repository with accurate, up‑to‑date requirements.
  • Ensure timely, complete and accurate customs clearance submissions and apply K1/K2/K8/K9/K?ZB processes; knowledge of FTAs is a plus.
  • Support continuous efficiency improvements across departmental process flows.
