Job summary

Surbana Jurong is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to lead design input, assessments and reports for hydro and dam projects in a multidisciplinary team. The role involves site visits, model updates, and QA to ensure robust geotechnical solutions across design stages.

You will collaborate on reports, specifications, and drawings for infrastructure projects and contribute to pre-feasibility through detailed design phases.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Geology & Geotechnical team to discuss technical matters regularly.
• Contribute to dam design and analysis activities during design/review stages.
• Prepare geotechnical interpretative and design reports.
• Manage day-to-day geotechnical design work and QA checks.
• Conduct site investigations and update geotechnical models as data becomes available.
• Prepare project documents, technical specs, drawings for infrastructure projects.
• Provide input for pre-feasibility, feasibility, tender and detailed design phases.

Job description

• Liaise and work closely with the Geology & Geotechnical team and other team members (as required) to discuss on technical matters/solutions on a regular basis and as needed.
• Work closely with the Dam Design team and contribute to the dam design and analysis activities during the various design and review stages of hydro & dams projects.
• Provide geotechnical design input, assessments, and reviews to support and assist the design teams and projects including preparing a geotechnical interpretative report and geotechnical design report.
• Take charge and manage day-to-day geotechnical design work.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to assess site conditions.
• Review design assumptions and develop workable geotechnical design solutions.
• Preparation and update of geotechnical model as data and information from geological site mappings and site investigations come available.
• Collaborate and work with multicultural teams in the preparation of project documents, study and design reports, design documents, technical specifications, drawings for infrastructure projects including hydropower and dam projects, tunnel and underground projects, geotechnical engineering and geo hazards projects.
• Provide technical input in supporting pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, tender design & detailed design phases of projects.
• Ensure the works are designed and executed correctly by carrying out a detailed review and implementing quality control measures.
• Consultation and coordination with the Project Manager, Lead Designers of other engineering disciplines and Contract Manager on any changed conditions.
• Liaise with the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and other team members to discuss technical matters/solutions on a regular basis and as needed.
• Review and Quality Assurance of technical input to projects and ensure compliance with SMEC BMS for execution of works and deliverables.
