Job summary

Selia Ekuiti is seeking a General Manager, Operations to lead the Operation Department, developing and monitoring plans to achieve company goals, and ensure efficient project execution across civil works.

The role requires a degree in Civil Engineering and at least 10 years in civil engineering or building works, with 8+ years in road maintenance or construction, plus strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree holder preferably in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years experience in civil engineering or building works, with 8+ years in road maintenance, management or construction.

Responsibilities

• Develop, recommend and monitor plans and strategies for the Operation Department to achieve company goals.
• Coordinate cost, budget, KRAs and business plans for the Operation Department.
• Improve efficiency through systems, procedures and new technologies across operations.
• Manage all claims for the Operation Department including client, sub-con, supplier and staff claims.
• Oversee appointment of sub-contractors and suppliers for projects.
• Foster conducive working relationships with clients, authorities and partners to ensure smooth operations.
• Develop staff training and development programmes for the Operation Department and suppliers.
• Provide general management support and oversee operations as needed.
• Perform General Manager, Operations duties as required.

The duties and responsibilities of the General Manager, Operations shall include but not limited to the following:

1. 1. Develop, recommend and monitor plans and strategies for the Operation Department in order to achieve short and long term goal and objectives of the Company.


2. 2. Develop, coordinate, monitor, control and review the cost, budget, Key Result Areas and business plan for Operation Department.


3. 3. Develop, recommend and monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the Operation Department. These include operating, administration, systems and procedures, introduction of new technologies and other matters, which may affect the performance of the division.


4. 4. Recommend, manage and monitor all Operation Department’s claims, including client, sub-con, supplier and staff claim.


5. 5. Recommend, manage and monitor the Operation Department’s appointment of sub-contractors and suppliers.


6. 6. Establish conducive working and interaction relationship within the Company as well as with clients, authorities, sub-contractors and road users to ensure smooth and efficient operation of projects.


7. 7. Develop, recommend and monitor staff training and development programme for the Operation Department.


8. 8. Recommend the training and development programme for sub-contractors and suppliers.


9. 9. General Manager, Operations in performing his functions from time to time.

Job Specifications:

Degree holder preferably in Civil Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 10 years experience in civil engineering or building works, preferably with at least 8 years experience in road maintenance, management or construction.
