Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Malaysia is seeking a General Accountant to support a broad range of accounting activities within the Finance team.

This role involves month-end closings, reconciliations, financial reporting, stat audits, and tax-related tasks, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting. The ideal candidate has hands-on audit experience, a solid grasp of general accounting processes, and familiarity with SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required.
• 2+ years of relevant accounting and auditing experience.
• Hands-on experience with statutory audits and external auditors.
• Strong understanding of general accounting processes, financial reporting and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day general accounting activities, including journal entries and general ledger processing.
• Assist with month-end closing, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Support statutory audit activities and coordinate with external auditors.
• Assist Tax Manager with tax-related activities.
• Support e-invoicing and related finance processes.
• Prepare and manage Accounts Payable reporting (GRIR and payments).
• Conduct bi-yearly balance sheet reviews with BU Controllers.
• Contribute to timely and accurate global reporting.

We are looking for a General Accountant to join our Finance team in Malaysia.

In this role, you will support a broad range of general accounting activities, including month-end closing, reconciliations, financial reporting, statutory audit and tax-related activities. You will work closely with the Finance Team Lead, Business Unit Controllers, internal stakeholders, external auditors and the CSS Hub to help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Support the Finance Team Lead with day-to-day general accounting activities, including journal entries, general ledger processing, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Support statutory audit activities and work closely with external auditors to facilitate the audit process.
• Assist the Tax Manager and Finance Team Lead with tax-related activities.
• Support e-invoicing activities and related finance processes.
• Prepare and manage Accounts Payable reporting, including GRIR and payment reports.
• Conduct bi-yearly balance sheet reviews with Business Unit Controllers.
• Support the timely and accurate completion of month-end closing and global reporting requirements.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required by management.
• Work closely with the CSS Hub to support timely and accurate closing activities.
• Ensure accounting records and financial reports are accurate, complete and compliant with relevant accounting procedures and internal controls.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting and auditing experience.
• Hands‑on experience supporting statutory audits and working with external auditors.
• Good understanding of general accounting processes, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience or knowledge of SAP is preferred.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities and deliver accurate work within required timelines.
