Full Stack Software Developer (remote role)
We located at SG is a technology and engineering company specialising in power quality solutions, energy management systems, SCADA/automation, and field engineering services across Southeast Asia. Our clients include HDB, town councils, SPPG, SEMI-CON, Data Centre, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. We build and maintain our own IoT-connected EMS / PQMS (EPMS) cloud platform, mobile apps, and embedded firmware — giving our engineering team rare end-to-end product ownership across hardware, firmware, and cloud.
ROLE SUMMARY
As Full Stack Software Developer (Remote, Malaysia), you will design, build, and maintain cloud-based and on-premise software systems that power our EMS / PQMS (EPMS), dashboard, data analytics, and IoT device integration. You will work in a small, senior engineering team where your contributions are visible, your technical decisions matter, and product ownership is real. The role spans frontend interfaces, backend APIs, cloud infrastructure, and IoT data pipelines — with room to specialise as the team scales.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Full Stack Development
- · Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications for PQMS and EMS product suite (Vue.js frontend + Node.js / Python backend).
- · Build and maintain RESTful APIs and real-time data services that feed dashboards, reporting modules, and IoT device integrations.
- · Develop multi-tenant SaaS features including user management, role-based access control, alerting, and audit trails.
- · Participate in code reviews, write clean and well-documented code, and contribute to Efunity's shared component library.
- · Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, IoT Core, CloudWatch) — cost-conscious, security-first.
- · Maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent); ensure reliable, zero-downtime deployments.
- · Support DevSecOps practices: VA/PT remediation, secrets management (AWS KMS / 1Password), and OWASP hardening.
- · Monitor application performance and reliability; respond to incidents and implement root-cause fixes.
- · Integrate IoT devices (power quality meters, energy meters, gateways) via MQTT, Modbus TCP/IP, and REST protocols.
- · Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines for time-series energy and power quality data; ensure EN50160 / IEC 61000 reporting accuracy.
- · Develop data visualisation features: trend charts, harmonic analysis views, energy consumption dashboards, and export-to-PDF reports.
- · Work with Embedded Engineer on firmware–cloud handshake protocols and OTA update systems.
- · Attend daily or alternate-day stand‑ups with the Singapore R&D team via Microsoft Teams (SGT timezone — no time zone gap).
- · Maintain detailed technical documentation in SharePoint / Confluence; update architecture diagrams and API specs as code evolves.
- · Enrol personal/company device in Efunity's Microsoft 365 + Intune MDM environment (mandatory — device compliance is a Day 0 requirement).
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualifications
- · Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- · Equivalent self-taught background with demonstrable portfolio / GitHub projects accepted.
Experience
- · Minimum 3 years of full stack development experience (frontend + backend + cloud deployment).
- · Hands‑on AWS experience — EC2, RDS/Aurora, S3, Lambda, IoT Core (or equivalent Azure/GCP with AWS willingness).
- · Proven track record building multi-tenant SaaS products or data-heavy web applications.
- · Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT, Modbus, OPC-UA) or time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or DynamoDB streams) is a strong advantage.
- · Exposure to industrial, energy, or IIoT domains is highly preferred but not mandatory.
Technical Skills
Frontend
React.js or Vue.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS / Material UI, Chart.js / ECharts for data visualisation
Node.js (Express/Fastify) and/or Python (FastAPI / Django); REST & WebSocket APIs
Cloud
AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, IoT Core, CloudWatch, API Gateway); basic Terraform or CloudFormation
Database
PostgreSQL / MySQL; Redis (caching/pub-sub); time-series (InfluxDB or TimescaleDB advantageous)
DevOps
GitHub / GitHub Actions CI/CD; Docker; Linux administration; basic Nginx
IoT
MQTT (Mosquitto / AWS IoT Core), Modbus TCP/IP, REST‑based meter API integration
Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive); Git (branching, PRs, code review); Jira or similar
Remote Work Readiness
- · Fluent in English (written and spoken) — daily communication with Singapore team is in English.
- · Mandarin proficiency is advantageous (team includes Mandarin-speaking members).
- · Reliable home office setup: stable broadband (≥ 50 Mbps), quiet working environment.
- · Self-directed, proactive communicator — able to flag blockers early and manage own sprint commitments.
- · Comfortable using Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook) as the primary collaboration stack.
- · Willing to enrol working device into Company's Intune MDM on Day 0 (mandatory security requirement).
- · Fully Remote Role, work hour in UTC +8 (9am to 6pm).
