Job summary

RecruitFirst Pte Ltd invites applications for a Forward Deployed Engineer to build and deploy AI solutions at enterprise customer environments in Malaysia. You will work directly with customers to understand systems, develop tailored AI agents and pipelines, and deliver POCs for production.

This hands-on, individual-contributor role involves coding, integrations, workshops, and troubleshooting with daily use of AI coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience with LLM applications (RAG, prompt engineering, tool calling, or agentic workflows).
• English communication skills across technical and business stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites across Malaysia.

Who you'll be working for

The ASEAN AI Innovation Centre is the overseas R&D hub of our AI Business Group, localizing mature AI products from China and building new AI products for Malaysia and broader ASEAN markets, with a focus on energy and education.

What requirements you'll need to be eligible

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with Python and/or TypeScript, APIs, databases, and integrations.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications, such as RAG, prompt engineering, tool calling, or agentic workflows.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguous environments, messy data, and changing requirements.
• Strong English communication skills across technical and business stakeholders.
• Regular use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites across Malaysia, with occasional ASEAN travel.

PREFERRED

• Experience with enterprise, industrial, or energy systems such as SCADA, EMS, ERP, or utility platforms.
• Experience delivering AI solutions or POCs to enterprise customers.
• Mandarin proficiency; Malay is a plus.
