Job summary

Hirehub seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to lead end-to-end design, pre-sales support, and project delivery for data centers and large facilities in Malaysia. You will prepare drawings, technical proposals, tender documents, and cost estimates, coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

You will ensure compliance with NFPA, BOMBA, UBBL, and Malaysian standards; supervise site installation, testing, and commissioning; review equipment lists; and produce as-built drawings

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection system design, engineering, installation, and construction.
• Strong knowledge of fire protection systems including alarm, sprinkler, hydrant, and gas suppression.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; BIM/Revit experience is an added advantage.
• Familiar with Malaysian fire safety regulations (BOMBA, UBBL; NFPA knowledge).
• Site coordination, troubleshooting, installation supervision, testing and handover experience.
• Excellent communication and coordination with clients, consultants, contractors and authorities.
• English reading required; Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Registered Fire Engineer or Professional Engineer certifications are a plus.
• Willing to travel or be stationed at project sites, including overseas.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end fire protection engineering activities for EPC and MEP projects, including pre-sales support, design, and client discussions.
• Prepare fire protection drawings, technical proposals, tender documents, and support cost estimation and bids.
• Provide technical consultation and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Perform detailed design and engineering for awarded projects, including drawings and method statements.
• Review equipment and material requirements for fire protection systems.
• Guide site installation teams and resolve engineering issues related to piping, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Calculate quantities and support project cost control and technical verification with clients and third parties.
• Prepare, review, and organize as-built drawings, technical docs, and handover records.
• Lead or support testing, commissioning, and inspection to ensure compliance with specs and codes.
• Stay updated on Malaysian and international codes and technologies; contribute to standards development.
• Support training, knowledge sharing, and lessons-learned activities to strengthen engineering capabilities.
• Maintain proper documentation and records; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end fire protection engineering activities for EPC and MEP projects, including pre-sales technical support, concept and scheme design, equipment selection, and technical discussions with clients.
• Independently prepare fire protection system drawings, technical proposals, tender documents, and support cost estimation, quotation, and bid presentations.
• Provide technical consultation and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders on fire protection engineering matters.
• Carry out detailed design and engineering for awarded projects, including preparation of fire protection drawings and project-specific construction or method statements.
• Review and verify fire protection equipment and material requirements for systems such as fire alarm, automatic sprinkler, gas suppression, hydrant, and other relevant fire protection systems.
• Provide technical guidance to site installation teams and resolve engineering issues related to piping layout, equipment installation, system integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Calculate fire protection engineering quantities and support project cost control, audits, and technical verification with clients and third-party parties.
• Prepare, review, and organize as-built drawings, technical documentation, submission records, and handover documents to support project approval, inspection, acceptance, and final delivery.
• Lead or support testing, commissioning, and inspection of fire protection systems to ensure compliance with approved specifications, applicable codes, and project requirements.
• Keep updated on Malaysian and international fire protection codes, standards, regulations, and new technologies.
• Participate in the development and improvement of fire protection engineering standards, design guidelines, construction procedures, and technical best practices.
• Support technical training, knowledge sharing, project reviews, and lessons-learned activities to strengthen the engineering team's technical capabilities.
• Maintain proper documentation and technical records and perform other duties assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Water Supply & Drainage, Mechatronics, or other related disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection system design, engineering, installation, and construction, preferably involving data centers, large commercial buildings, industrial facilities, or EPC/MEP projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems, including fire alarm, automatic sprinkler, hydrant, gas suppression, and related fire safety systems.
• Able to independently handle fire protection design detailing, technical proposals, tender documentation, equipment selection, and engineering calculations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with BIM/Revit and other engineering design software is an added advantage.
• Familiar with relevant Malaysian fire safety regulations, BOMBA requirements, Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL), Malaysian Standards, and applicable international standards such as NFPA.
• Experience in site coordination, technical troubleshooting, installation supervision, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and project teams.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering standards in English; Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage where required for project coordination.
• Registered Fire Engineer, Professional Engineer, or other relevant fire protection certifications are an added advantage.
• Willing to travel or be stationed at project sites, including overseas assignments when required.
