Job summary

Sunway Group in Malaysia seeks an experienced finance professional to lead accounting functions within our corporate insurance and lending operations. The role focuses on planning, budgeting, cashflow, and timely financial reporting.

You will oversee month-end/ year-end close, liaise with external auditors and bankers, and ensure compliance with applicable standards while optimizing cash management and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, Finance or equivalent professional accountancy qualification (i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA).
• Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience in accounting and analytical financial roles, additional auditing experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge in financial analysis and reporting.
• Proficiency in ERP Systems (i.e. Oracle Accounting system).
• Experience in finance and Insurance services industry will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of business plan, financial budget and cashflow forecast.
• Lead month-end/year-end closing and submission of management reports on time.
• Prepare, review and submit periodic statistics, loan transaction reports and unclaimed money to authorities.
• Liaise with Group Finance, bankers, insurers, tax agent, and others to resolve finance-related issues.
• Monitor and ensure financial reporting aligns with governing standards and regulations.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and ensure excess funds are parked promptly.
• Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors for timely audits.
• Petty cash management and reconciliation of insurer/ creditor statements.
• Collaborate with departments to align financial strategy with business objectives.
• Perform ad hoc financial tasks as directed by management.
