BRIGHT ALLIANCE SDN BHD, established since 1993, is a leading luggage industry player in Asia. We seek a seasoned finance professional to oversee all finance and accounting functions, ensuring timely reporting and strong internal controls in a fast-paced Malaysia setting.

The role emphasizes month-end close, cash flow planning, budgeting, and balance sheet reconciliations, with close collaboration with external auditors and tax agents. MPERS knowledge and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required.
• Professional membership or qualification such as MIA, ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, CIMA or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred to communicate effectively in a Mandarin-speaking environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in audit, accounting, or finance with focus on month-end close and financial reporting.
• Experience handling consolidated group accounts.
• Proven experience managing monthly financial reporting cycles and using accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and MPERS.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with senior management and other departments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions, including timely financial and management reporting.
• Plan and monitor cash flow, working capital, funding requirements, and budget allocation.
• Manage end-to-end financial processes, including collections, payments, monthly closing activities, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, accounting systems, internal controls, and company policies.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and other financial reports.
• Review financial results and provide meaningful analysis and insights to management to support business decision-making.
• Establish, maintain, and improve internal control procedures and accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and work closely with department heads to align financial plans with business objectives.
• Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis to management.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and other professional advisors, and coordinate the annual audit and tax‑related matters.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external parties such as solicitors, bankers, tax agents, auditors, and statutory authorities.
• Ensure timely submission of statutory, tax, and other financial‑related requirements.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the finance/accounts team.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Undertake other finance-related projects and ad hoc tasks as assigned by management.
