Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a senior finance leader in Malaysia to direct the Accounting & Finance Department, ensure compliant financial practices, and drive budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across the organization.

The role covers policy development, risk management, system enhancements, and collaboration with the Group Corporate Finance team to deliver data-driven insights for growth.

Qualifications

  • Possess a professional accounting qualification or a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Membership in recognized professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or MIA will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide strategic direction to the finance team, overseeing all financial operations and functions.
  • Ensure the organization’s financial activities are managed effectively, in compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement robust financial policies and procedures to support business objectives and long-term growth.
  • Lead and manage the Accounting & Finance Department, ensuring an effective organizational structure that supports the achievement of departmental objectives.
  • Maintain full sets of accounts and ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial reports in accordance with approved accounting standards.
  • Oversee the Company’s financial and accounting systems, ensuring alignment with Group policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Prepare and consolidate budgets, forecasts, and cost control reports to support strategic financial planning and decision-making.
  • Drive the annual budgeting process and recommend enhancements to internal controls and operational processes.
  • Oversee key management accounting functions, including budgetary control, investment analysis, and project evaluations, in collaboration with the Group Corporate Finance team.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of management information systems to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage the Company’s tax planning and compliance activities.
  • Continuously assess the Company’s risk exposure and ensure adequate insurance coverage is in place.
  • Streamline and standardise financial reporting processes to improve efficiency in month-end close and management reporting.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial, statutory, and ad-hoc reports to management and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee cash flow management, including monitoring inflows and outflows, and ensuring strong controls over treasury functions.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax agents to ensure compliance with audit and statutory requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve operational issues within the finance and accounting functions.
  • Drive departmental performance to achieve defined KPIs and business targets.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by senior management.

Requirements
Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysian Accounting Standards and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Highly self-driven and analytical, with proficiency in financial systems and digital tools.
  • Sound understanding of internal controls and risk management practices.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities, with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions.
