Merantara Sdn. Bhd. seeks a qualified finance professional to oversee accounting, month-end reporting, and cost analysis for project-based technology services. You will coordinate with HR and project teams on payroll and budgets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Malaysian standards.
The role emphasizes process improvements, data integrity, and collaboration with tax advisers to meet regulatory requirements. A recognized accounting qualification is essential.
Data projects involve spending on people, equipment, locations and tools. Rework and delivery also affect costs, receipts and payments. Your work will keep financial records clear and provide reliable figures and analysis for business decisions. People starting out will work with guidance and review on document preparation, reconciliations, cost recording and basic analysis. Experienced professionals may take responsibility for month-end work, budgets, coordination on accounting and tax matters, and process improvements. Together, the team will develop financial practices suited to a technology company and project-based work.
Accounting and month-end reporting: Handle assigned accounting entries and supporting documents, receivables, payables, expenses and bank reconciliations. Maintain financial records and monthly management reports with accurate figures and traceable supporting evidence.
Accounting and tax support: Prepare information for financial reporting, tax, e-invoicing and record retention. Work with local accounting, tax and audit advisers to confirm applicable requirements.
Project cost analysis: Record spending on people, equipment, locations, outsourced work and tools. Analyse how delivery quality and rework affect costs, supporting pricing and resource decisions.
Budgets and cash management: Track receipts, payments, cash requirements and budget variances. Reconcile payroll and settlement information with HR and project colleagues, and flag exceptions promptly.
Financial systems and processes: Connect purchasing, contracts, acceptance records, invoicing, payments and document retention. Maintain equipment and software subscription records, and improve data preparation and reconciliation methods.
Relevant accounting or finance knowledge, including bookkeeping, financial statements, cost accounting and the basics of budgeting and internal controls. Attention to source documents and data accuracy.
Familiarity with accounting and tax practices in Malaysia, with the ability to check applicable requirements under professional guidance and identify matters needing further confirmation.
Ability to organise financial data, check formulas, reconcile figures and investigate differences. Practical experience using AI for learning or work, with the ability to explain how you verified the results.
Integrity, discretion and professional judgement, with the ability to explain figures and issues to colleagues outside finance.
Relevant professional qualifications preferred: Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) with C.A.(M) designation, Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) membership, ACCA membership, or other relevant professional qualifications.
Applicants studying towards an accountancy qualification, those who have passed some examinations, and those who have completed examinations but have not yet obtained full membership are welcome to apply.
Experience in technology companies, project-based services, cross-border payments, financial systems implementation, advanced financial modelling, Power Query, business intelligence (BI) or automation is an advantage.
