Job summary

Vertiv is seeking an Electrical Test Technician to perform functional and acceptance testing of switchgear systems, including low and medium voltage breakers, protective relays, CTs and PTs. The role involves conducting megger, hipot, timing and relay calibration tests, troubleshooting wiring and control circuits, and supporting field installations and service visits.

Travel to customer sites is expected. You will interpret electrical drawings and specifications, ensure equipment meets safety

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology preferred.
2–5 years of hands-on switchgear testing or related experience.
Proficient use of electrical test equipment (multimeters, megger, hipot, relay testers).
Strong understanding of three-phase power systems and electrical safety practices.

Responsibilities

Perform functional and acceptance testing of electrical switchgear systems.
Conduct performance tests (contact resistance, insulation resistance, hipot, timing, relay calibration).
Troubleshoot wiring, mechanical and control issues using diagrams and test equipment.
Verify operation of interlocks, safety devices and control logic.
Complete and maintain accurate test reports, inspection records and startup docs.
Interpret drawings and specifications; ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
