Job summary

Vertiv Malaysia seeks engineers for functional and acceptance testing of electrical switchgear, including low/high voltage breakers, relays, CTs/PTs and control circuits. You will run performance tests, troubleshoot issues, and verify safety interlocks and control logic.

Documentation and startup records form part of the role, with field support on installations and service visits as needed. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, plus an associate degree or technical certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on switchgear testing or commissioning experience.
• Proficient with multimeters, megger, hipot testers, relay testers, power analyzers and phase rotation meters.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics; familiarity with UL/IEEE/IEC standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional and acceptance testing of electrical switchgear systems.
• Conduct performance tests such as contact resistance, insulation resistance, hipot, timing, and relay calibration.
• Troubleshoot wiring, mechanical, and control issues using diagrams and test equipment.
• Verify operation of interlocks, safety devices, and control logic.
• Prepare and maintain accurate test reports, inspection records, and startup documents.
• Interpret electrical schematics and product specifications.
• Ensure equipment meets safety and performance standards before release or installation.
• Provide field support during installation, commissioning, or service visits as needed.
• Maintain safe work environment per company procedures and regulations.
