Job summary

Mindteck is seeking a Field Service Engineer in Malaysia to perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and energisation support for MV/LV switchgear. You will read wiring diagrams, verify protections, and assist with automation systems including IEC 61850.

You will travel to customer sites across Malaysia, support Siemens products, and ensure safety and compliance while delivering high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• 2-5 years' experience in switchgear testing, commissioning, maintenance, or field service.
• Hands-on experience with MV/LV switchgear and electrical systems.
• Ability to read electrical single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of protection relays, SCADA/RTU, and IEC 61850 is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, commissioning, pre-commissioning, and energisation support for MV/LV switchgear.
• Conduct troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of switchgear systems.
• Test and verify wiring, control circuits, interlocks, protection functions, and communication interfaces.
• Support protection and automation systems, including SIPROTEC 5, Reyrolle 5, SICAM A8000, and IEC 61850.
• Service Siemens products such as 8DA10 GIS, NXAIR, NXPLUS C, 8DJH RMU, and SIVACON S8.
• Support site installation, equipment inspection, modifications, upgrades, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, suppliers, and project teams.
• Prepare testing, commissioning, service, and fault investigation reports.
• Ensure all work complies with electrical, safety, customer, and manufacturer requirements.
• Provide technical support and recommendations to customers.
• Travel to customer and project sites across Malaysia as required.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

2-5 years' experience in switchgear testing, commissioning, maintenance, or field service.

Hands-on experience with MV/LV switchgear and electrical systems.

Ability to read electrical single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.

Good troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.

Knowledge of protection relays, SCADA/RTU, and IEC 61850 is an advantage.

Siemens switchgear experience is highly advantageous; ABB or Schneider experience is a plus.

Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently at customer sites and travel extensively.

Valid driving licence required.
