Job summary

ABB Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on System 800xA automation systems, across domestic, onshore, offshore and international sites.

You will plan service work, follow ABB processes, and ensure first-time right execution. The role is based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, with a hybrid onsite work model. You will diagnose hardware and software issues, provide technical support across automation and cybersecurity, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology, majoring in Electrical or Electronics.
• 2-5 years of experience as a Service Engineer in automation systems, including DCS, SIS, FGS and ENMCS.
• Sound knowledge and hands-on experience in servicing, maintaining, commissioning and repairing control systems.
• Clear communication skills, strong organization skills and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Exposure to the Oil & Gas and Petrochemicals sectors.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD for control system drawings.

Responsibilities

• Executing service work with low to medium complexity per work instructions and ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines.
• Plan and execute service work on a first-time right approach with customers.
• Showcase your ability by displaying a clear understanding of care in your own area of responsibility.
• Performing preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on System 800xA automation systems.
• Executing service and project activities for System 800xA installations at domestic, onshore, offshore and international sites, following work instructions, quality standards and safety guidelines.
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and communication issues, aiming to get every job right the first time.
• Monitoring and optimizing system performance, reliability and operational availability.
• Supporting system upgrades, migrations, enhancements and optimization activities.
• Planning service work based on customer orders, project requirements and service agreements, and keep customers informed of schedules, progress and expectations.
• Providing multidisciplinary technical support across automation, control systems, networking and cybersecurity, and validate low to medium complexity engineering designs for service projects.
• Preparing preventive maintenance checklists, maintenance activity reports, and project-related documents and drawings.
