Job summary

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or Power Electronics.
• 1–5 years in FAE, Application Eng, Technical Support or Technical Sales preferred.
• Willingness to travel for customer visits and tech support.
• Good English communication; Mandarin a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers on power supply products and applications.
• Understand customer system requirements and recommend suitable power supply solutions.
• Assist customers with product selection, specifications and technical documentation.
• Support customers during product evaluation, testing, qualification and implementation.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to power supplies and system applications.
• Work with customers to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide technical support for AC-DC, DC-DC, modular and programmable power supply applications.
• Visit customers to understand their technical requirements and application challenges.
• Support customer projects from initial technical discussion through design-in, evaluation and production.
• Work closely with customer engineering, R&D, manufacturing and procurement teams.
• Follow up on technical issues, samples, testing and qualification activities.
• Support NPI and new product introduction projects.
• Maintain close communication with customers to ensure technical issues are resolved effectively.

About the Role

Hong Guan Technology Sdn Bhd is looking for a motivated and technically driven Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join our growing team.

As an FAE, you will play an important role in supporting customers throughout the product selection, evaluation, testing and implementation process. You will work closely with our Sales team, customers and international power supply manufacturers to provide technical solutions and application support.

The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in power electronics, power supplies, electronics engineering or related technologies, with good problem-solving and communication skills.

Technical & Application Support

Provide technical support to customers on power supply products and applications.

Understand customer system requirements and recommend suitable power supply solutions.

Assist customers with product selection, specifications and technical documentation.

Support customers during product evaluation, testing, qualification and implementation.

Troubleshoot technical issues related to power supplies and system applications.

Work with customers to identify root causes and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Provide technical support for AC-DC, DC-DC, modular and programmable power supply applications.

Customer & Project Support

Visit customers to understand their technical requirements and application challenges.

Support customer projects from initial technical discussion through design-in, evaluation and production.

Work closely with customer engineering, R&D, manufacturing and procurement teams.

Follow up on technical issues, samples, testing and qualification activities.

Support NPI and new product introduction projects.

Maintain close communication with customers to ensure technical issues are resolved effectively.

Sales & Business Development Support

Work closely with the Sales team to identify and develop new business opportunities.

Provide technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers.

Support Sales in customer visits, technical discussions and project proposals.

Identify potential applications and opportunities for our power supply products.

Assist in converting technical opportunities into successful design wins.

Develop strong technical relationships with customers and key decision-makers.

Manufacturer & Internal Coordination

Work closely with our authorized power supply manufacturers and suppliers.

Coordinate technical inquiries, product recommendations and application requirements.

Communicate customer feedback and technical requirements to manufacturers.

Support sample requests, product evaluation and technical clarification.

Prepare technical reports, application notes and customer documentation where required.

Testing & Troubleshooting

Assist with product testing, evaluation and validation.

Analyse power supply performance and investigate technical issues.

Support troubleshooting involving voltage, current, load, thermal and other electrical parameters.

Assist in failure analysis and corrective action activities.

Coordinate with internal Service / Repair teams when products require further investigation or repair.

Support customer FA, RMA and technical investigation activities when required.

What We're Looking For

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Power Electronics or a related field.

1–5 years of experience in FAE, Application Engineering, Technical Support, Electronics Engineering or Technical Sales is preferred.

Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge and a strong interest in power electronics are also encouraged to apply.

Basic understanding of AC-DC, DC-DC power supplies and power electronics.

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical datasheets.

Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Experience using electrical test equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscope, electronic load or power analyzer is an advantage.

Experience with power supply testing, system integration or electronic equipment is an advantage.

Good communication and presentation skills.

Able to communicate effectively with customers, engineers and suppliers.

Self-motivated, responsible and willing to learn.

Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Willing to travel for customer visits and technical support when required.

Good command of English is required.

Mandarin Chinese is an advantage.
