Job summary

Samwa Precision Sdn Bhd is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Specialist to oversee routine inspections, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance of building systems in Penang. You will work with EHS, vendors, and internal teams to keep electrical, plumbing, and fire safety compliant.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma in Industrial or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with 3–5 years of related experience, and readiness to collaborate with Mandarin-speaking vendors.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Industrial Engineering or Electrical Engineering; 3–5 years in similar field.
• Experience with ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO13485 & IATF16949 is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Malaysia occupational health and safety requirements, critical facilities and vendor management.
• Ability to operate and maintain building equipment; physical fitness to lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Routine inspections and maintenance of building systems (electrical, plumbing, furniture, fire safety).
• Emergency repairs: respond to outages, leaks, or equipment failures.
• Troubleshooting: diagnose issues and implement solutions.
• Preventive maintenance: develop schedules to prevent breakdowns.
• Energy efficiency: identify cost-saving measures and sustainability practices.
• Record keeping: maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory.
• Vendor management: coordinate with external contractors and service providers.
• Safety compliance: ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Training: stay current with industry practices through development.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Job description

Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, furniture, fire safety systems inspections, etc.

Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, such as power outages, leaks, or equipment failures.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with building systems, identify root causes, and implement solutions.

Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain building equipment in good condition, such as air-cond

Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all building systems to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.

Safety Compliance: Work with EHS and ensure that the building complies with all safety and regulatory standards, including fire codes and environmental regulations.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventory.

Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance or repairs.

Energy Efficiency: Identify and implement energy‑efficient practices to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.

Security: Assist in maintaining building security, including access control systems and surveillance equipment.

Inventory Management: Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts.

Training: Stay current with industry trends and best practices through training and professional development. To maintain proper filling for all respective document.

Perform other tasks / duties as assigned or required.

Diploma & above in Industrial Engineering / Electrical Engineering or At least 3-5 years of working experience in similar field/position.

Having knowledge in ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO13485 & IATF16949 is an added advantage.

Knowledge of Malaysia occupational health and safety requirements, critical facilities and vendor management are also required for this role.

Ability to operate and maintain various types of building equipment and hands on person.

Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.

Other competences: Responsibility & independently, secrecy, attentive, agility.

Ability to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking vendor / contractor.
