Job summary

A German multinational corporation in Bayan Lepas, Penang, seeks a seasoned Head of Facilities Management to provide strategic direction for all facilities operations across the site. The role leads enterprise-wide facilities strategy aligned with growth, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a senior managerial role in facilities management.
• 12–15 years progressive experience in facilities and plant equipment management.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; advanced EHS or facilitiesManagement qualifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of air handling, water processes, compressed air, and utility sources.
• Experience designing and executing facilities strategies in multinational manufacturing.
• Ability to engage with senior leadership, regulators, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Head of Facilities Management Division — provide strategic direction, governance, and oversight for all facilities operations across the site.
• Enterprise‑wide Facilities Strategy — design and implement long‑term facilities plans that align with corporate growth, sustainability, and compliance objectives.
• Regulatory & Stakeholder Liaison — represent the company with local utilities, regulatory authorities, and government agencies on matters of electrical supply, infrastructure, and compliance.
• Infrastructure Development — lead planning and execution of utilities setup for new production operations, plant expansions, and relocations.
• Operational Excellence — oversee preventive maintenance programs for major facilities equipment, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and cost optimization.
• Sustainability Leadership — drive energy efficiency, water conservation, and environmental initiatives, ensuring compliance with EHS and legal requirements.
• Cross‑Functional Leadership — chair monthly energy management and sustainability meetings, influencing cross‑departmental practices and corporate reporting.
• Risk & Crisis Management — establish emergency response protocols and ensure readiness for fire authority inspections, hazardous waste handling, and regulatory audits.

What You Will Need to Succeed

• Proven Leadership — minimum 5 years in a senior managerial role, with at least 12–15 years of progressive experience in facilities and plant equipment management.
• Strategic Expertise — demonstrated ability to design and execute facilities strategies in a multinational manufacturing environment.
• Technical Depth — strong knowledge of air handling, water processes, compressed air, utility sources, and EHS compliance (hazardous waste, air quality, water discharge, emergency response).
• Greenfield Experience — track record in setting up facilities for new plants or production lines is a strong advantage.
• Educational Background — bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; advanced qualifications in EHS or facilities management preferred.
• Influence & Governance — ability to engage with senior leadership, regulators, and cross‑functional teams to drive consensus and compliance.
