Coherent Corp. in Malaysia (Penang) is seeking a Diploma-educated engineer to assist FA engineers in failure analysis, root-cause identification, and implementation of preventive actions for optical device testing in a mass-production setting.

The role requires strong electronics knowledge, familiarity with test instruments, and the ability to work independently on-site. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years experience, good communication, and data reporting skills.

Formación

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent with relevant field experience.
• Minimum 5 years in optical device testing/repair in mass production.
• Familiar with optical devices basics and circuit diagrams.
• Candidate may be considered with manager's approval based on experience and training arrangement.
• Good computer literacy, communication, and data reporting skills.
• Solid Electronics background and familiarity with test instruments.
• Experience with PCBA troubleshooting preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist failure analysis with root-cause identification for RMA and production issues.

• Prepare and submit quality reports to superiors as required.
• Participate in product evaluations to identify effective defect screening methods.
• Participate in quarterly or as-needed product inventory counts.
• Operate and maintain failure analysis equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1) Assist FA engineers in conducting failure analysis and identified root causes for RMA (Return Material Analysis) and internal production fall out units.

2) Ensuring compliance with the agreed turnaround time (TAT).

3) Assist in implementing preventive actions to prevent the recurrence of quality issues.

4) Prepare and submitt quality reports to superiors as required.

5) Participate in product evaluations to determine the most effective defect screening methods.

6) Took part in quarterly or as-needed product inventory counts.

7) Operate and maintain failure analysis equipment, ensuring that it is calibrated and in good working order. Troubleshoot equipment as needed.

Education & Experience

1) Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Optoelectronics or Telecommunications).

2) At least 5 years of experience in optical device testing/repair related industry and in mass production environment.

3) Familiar with basic knowledge and principle of optical devices.

4) Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc

5) With good computer literacy, good communication skill and reporting of information/ data.

6) Familiar with circuit diagrams and a strong background in Electronics.

7) Familiar with test instruments (Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc.)

8) Experience in troubleshooting PCBA preferred.

9) Can work independently and work with support teams as needed.

10) Has basic knowledge of optical circuit, circuit analysis, problem solving and master the use of optical module test instruments.

11) 8D knowledge is an advantage
