Job summary

Hong Leong Bank in Malaysia is seeking a Product Owner to drive the strategy, development and lifecycle of payment products. You will define vision, prioritize roadmaps, and partner with Technology, UX/UI and commercial teams to deliver scalable, secure and compliant solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own the product strategy & ideation, define vision, value proposition and target customer.
• Own the product roadmap and prioritization across the lifecycle, coordinating with Technology and delivery teams.
• Develop intuitive and commercially viable product experiences with UX/UI and stakeholders.
• Monitor product performance, KPIs and lifecycle health post-launch, including adoption and revenue.
• Influence stakeholders, communicate vision and progress, and drive customer-centric decisions.

Functional (job responsibilities)

1. Product Strategy & Ideation
   • Identify and evaluate new payment product opportunities based on customer needs, merchant pain points, market trends, competitive landscape and emerging technologies.
   • Define the product vision, value proposition, target customer and desired business outcomes.
   • Conduct market, customer and competitor research to validate opportunities and prioritize the right problems to solve.
   • Develop a strong understanding of the payment's ecosystem, including merchants, payment methods, acquiring, payment gateways, processors, schemes, banks, wallets and fintech partners
   • Assess commercial viability, scalability, operational feasibility, technology requirements and associated risks before development
2. Product Development & Delivery
   • Own the product roadmap and prioritization across the product lifecycle.
   • Work closely with Technology and delivery teams to translate product vision and requirements into scalable solutions.
   • Work with UX/UI, Technology and relevant stakeholders to develop intuitive and commercially viable product experiences.
   • Ensure products are delivered against agreed scope, timelines, quality standards and business objectives.
   • Balance speed to market with scalability, security, regulatory and operational considerations
3. Product Performance & Lifecycle Management
   • Own the ongoing performance and health of assigned products after launch.
   • Establish and monitor product KPIs including adoption, transaction volume, revenue, profitability, customer/merchant usage, conversion, retention, operational performance and customer experience.

Organizational (organizational responsibilities)

• Act as the single product owner and point of accountability for assigned products.
• Build strong working relationships across Technology, Commercial, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Marketing, Partnerships and other relevant functions.
• Influence stakeholders and drive alignment without relying solely on formal authority.
• Clearly communicate product vision, priorities, trade-offs, progress and business outcomes to management.
• Challenge assumptions and advocate for the customer and the business when making product decisions.
• Drive a culture of customer-centricity, experimentation, continuous improvement and ownership.
