Job summary

SWM Seelong Sdn Bhd is seeking a civil/environmental project operations professional to support daily landfill activities at Seelong, Johor. You will coordinate waste acceptance, placement, soil cover, housekeeping, traffic management and environmental controls, reporting on progress and compliance.

The role requires a degree in Civil Engineering or related field, at least 3 years in project management or operations, and strong planning, analytical, and bilingual communication skills in English

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental, Waste Management or equivalent.
• 3+ years' experience in project management or project operations with exposure to waste management industry.
• Meticulous and systematic in organizing own work processes.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with sharp analytical and evaluation abilities.
• Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
• Able to work under minimum supervision and meet deadlines.
• Mechanical knowledge is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations of the landfill facility and assist in resolving issues for site performance.
• Coordinate and monitor landfill activities including waste acceptance, placement, and soil cover application.
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and regulators.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and supervision to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
• Plan, schedule, and monitor operational, maintenance, and development activities.
• Prepare, review, and maintain operational records, drawings, reports, and risk assessments.
• Process purchase requisitions, delivery orders, invoices, and related documents.
• Compile and submit operational, environmental, equipment utilization, and project progress reports.
• Support environmental monitoring and compliance (leachate, landfill gas, stormwater, groundwater).
• Monitor contractor performance, progress, quality, schedules and budgets; escalate when needed.
• Ensure Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) compliance and participate in investigations.

Support the daily operations of the landfill facility and assist in resolving operational issues to ensure efficient site performance. Coordinate and monitor landfill activities, including waste acceptance, placement, compaction, soil cover application, housekeeping, traffic management, and environmental controls.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the performance and utilization of plant, machinery, vehicles, equipment, and contractors to maintain operational efficiency
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth execution of operational and project activities
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and supervision activities to identify operational, safety, environmental, and quality issues, and implement corrective actions where required
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and monitoring operational, maintenance, and landfill development activities to ensure timely delivery
• Prepare, review, and maintain operational records, drawings, reports, risk assessments, and project documentation
• Verify and process purchase requisitions, delivery orders, invoices, work orders, and related documents in accordance with company procedures
• Compile and submit operational, environmental, equipment utilization, and project progress reports
• Support environmental monitoring and compliance activities, including leachate, landfill gas, stormwater, and groundwater management
• Monitor contractor performance, project progress, quality standards, schedules, and budgets, escalating issues and delays when necessary
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) requirements and participate in incident investigations, emergency response, and business continuity activities

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental, Waste Management or equivalent
• At least 3 years' experience in project management or project operations with or without exposure in waste management industry
• Meticulous and systematic in organizing own work processes
• Strong planning and organizational skills with sharp analytical and evaluation abilities
• Good communication skills both verbal and written in multilingual i.e. English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Able to work under minimum supervision and deal with deadlines
• Mechanical knowledge will be an added advantage
