Job summary

SD Guthrie International Pasir Gudang Refinery is hiring an Assigned Engineer for the WWTP. You will tune processes, troubleshoot, and maintain wastewater treatment operations, ensuring ISO 9001 and DOE compliance while coordinating with multiple departments and stakeholders.

The role requires a chemical/related engineering degree and exposure to environmental regulations; certifications are a plus. Strong analytical and reporting skills, plus MS Office proficiency, are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Environmental/Mechanical/Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Familiarity with DOE regulations and Environmental Quality Act requirements.
• Experience in manufacturing, refinery, edible oil or oleochemical industries is an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Report to WWTP HOD at SD Guthrie International Pasir Gudang Refinery.
• Serve as Assigned Engineer for WWTP: tune processes, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve.
• Assist HOD in department administration and act on their behalf as needed.
• Improve and maintain WWTP per ISO 9001 and DOE regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with related departments to understand wastewater processes.
• Collaborate with other departments on wastewater issues.
• Ensure proper running and housekeeping of WWTP, including chemicals, consumables, maintenance, and calibration.
• Monitor daily analyses by WWTP technicians for accuracy and reliability.
• Compile, summarize results and provide timely feedback to operations.
• Review third-party results for Online Environmental Reports for DOE and other compliance.
• Review results to ensure smooth WWTP operations.
• Implement safe working procedures and enforce them among personnel.
• Communicate with superiors, subordinates, colleagues, suppliers, customers and authorities.
• Perform any other duties as directed by superior.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. 1. Report to the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) HOD at SD Guthrie International Pasir Gudang Refinery Sdn Bhd.
2. 2. Assigned Engineer (WWTP Executive) for the WWTP covering process tuning, plant troubleshooting, plant maintenance and process improvement.
3. 3. Assist HOD in the general administration of the department and to act on his/her behalf in his/her absence.
4. 4. Improve and maintain the existing WWTP according to ISO 9001 and DOE’s regulatory requirements.
5. 5. Coordinate with all related departments in understanding all plant processes that generate wastewater.
6. 6. Coordinate and work with other departments in any issues regarding wastewater.
7. 7. Ensure good, proper running, and cleanliness (housekeeping) of the WWTP including stock of chemicals and ingredients, consumables, maintenance and calibration of instrument, manpower deployment and shift arrangement and other employee affairs.
8. 8. Monitor the daily analysis done by WWTP technicians to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
9. 9. Compile and summarize results, conduct analysis of data using available tools and give timely feedback to the operation team.
10. 10. Compile, review and analyze third party results for submission of Online Environmental Report for Department of Environment and any other report related to compliance.
11. 11. Review and analyze results to ensure smoothness of WWTP operations.
12. 12. Implement safe working procedures and ensure its implementation among the personnel in the department.
13. 13. Communicate with superiors, subordinates, colleagues from other departments, suppliers, customers, and authorities.
14. 14. Perform any other duties as directed by superior from time to time

Ideal Candidate

1. 1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or any related discipline.
2. 2. Professional certification in Environmental Management or Certified Environmental Professional in Industrial Effluent Treatment (CePIETSO) is an added advantage.
3. 3. Familiarity with DOE (Department of Environment) regulations and Environmental Quality Act requirements.
4. 4. Experience in manufacturing, refinery, edible oil, biodiesel, oleochemical, or related industry is an advantage.
5. 5. Good analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
6. 6. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
7. 7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
