Job summary

Suzuki Malaysia is seeking a cost accounting and inventory specialist to manage standard costing, SAP data, and cost analyses. You will prepare accurate inventory reports, perform month-end closings, and work closely with Finance, Store and Production teams to ensure correct costing records.

The role requires a Diploma in Finance/Accounting with at least 2 years in costing or inventory accounting, and proficiency in SAP and Excel. JDE or ERP exposure is a plus; based in Shah Alam, on-site.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable handling large data sets.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills across departments.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with inventory costing and standard costing is preferred.
• Familiarity with SAP inventory/costing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and ad-hoc inventory reports accurately and on time.
• Conduct monthly inventory cycle counts with Store and Production teams; investigate discrepancies and adjust as needed.
• Monitor and analyse scrap movement and costs; prepare weekly and monthly scrap reports.
• Perform month-end inventory closing activities, including reconciliation and journal entries for inventory and scrap.
• Maintain Master Data for new products and ensure standard costing in SAP for purchased and manufactured items.
• Assist in reviewing and updating product costs, material costs and standard costs in SAP.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports related to Indirect Materials and Maintenance costs.
• Monitor inventory and costing variances and highlight discrepancies to management.
• Support internal and external audits with relevant documents and explanations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Store, Production, Purchasing and other departments to ensure accurate records.
• Perform other duties and ad-hoc assignments as needed.

Requirements

1. Minimum Diploma in Finance, Accounting or related field. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA or CPA are an advantage.
2. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Costing, Inventory Accounting, Management Accounting or related fields.
3. Experience in SAP and inventory/costing systems is an advantage.
4. Good understanding of inventory reconciliation, standard costing and cost analysis.
5. Strong analytical and numerical skills with good attention to detail.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with large sets of data.
7. Responsible, independent, proactive and able to work with minimum supervision.
8. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with different departments.
9. Able to identify discrepancies, analyse issues and provide practical recommendations for improvement
