Job summary

STX Precision in Malaysia seeks a Cost Accountant to manage inventory valuation, standard costing, and costing close processes.

You will collect production data, update standard costs, monitor BOM, perform variance analyses, and collaborate with purchasing and operations to drive cost improvements. This role supports pricing reviews and ongoing cost control across materials, labor, overhead, and distribution, with monthly and yearly stock takes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Value and cost products through standard costing processes
• Collect production data and develop/update standard costs
• Calculate and regularly update materials, labour, overhead costs
• Coordinate with operations for accurate cost data
• Monitor BOM accuracy
• Liaise with purchasing and supply chain on BOM costs
• Perform variance analysis of standard vs actual costs
• Identify cost reduction opportunities from raw materials to distribution
• Review pricing with cost analysis and profitability
• Oversee stocktakes and monthly/yearly counts
• Maintain costing system and monthly cost close including inventory analysis
• Reconcile inventory records with GL
• Review standard cost setup in new system to maintain accuracy

• 1. Responsible for inventory valuation and product costing.
• 2. To collect data from production & develop new standard cost for manufacturing process & update standard cost on existing operating activity.
• 3. Calculate standard costs for materials, labour, and overhead, and ensure they are updated regularly to reflect actual costs.
• 4. Work closely with the operations team to ensure data is correctly collected from production activities, machine usage, and labour hours for accurate costing.
• 5. Monitor the Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy.
• 6. Liaise with purchasing team and supply chain team for cost related information, the bill of materials.
• 7. To carry out variance analysis on standard cost against actual cost for on job & existing items for inaccuracies & cost control purpose.
• 8. Perform detailed cost analysis associated with raw materials, production processes, finished goods, packaging and distribution to identify areas for cost reduction improvement opportunities.
• 9. To review product pricing in regards to cost analysis & profitability.
• 10. Overseeing the stocktake process and record as well as involved in yearly and monthly count.
• 11. Maintenance of costing system and responsible for monthly costing closing including inventory account analysis.
• 12. Perform the reconciliation of the inventory record against the GL record.
• 14. To review standard cost setup in new system (if any) from time to time to maintain high accuracy.
