Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and identify content on new media platforms to detect violations and flag actions.
  • Coordinate with LEAs and ministries on anticipatory management and content takedown/escalation.
  • Produce and manage statistical data related to new media in Malaysia when assigned.
  • Generate articles for the sebenarya.myportal and maintain portal databases.
  • Build documentation around analyses, methodologies, and data definitions.
  • Engage in content monitoring activities and track key events to maintain organizational awareness and speed.
  • Identify misuse using internal data, open-source intelligence, and third-party intel.
  • Make decisions on complicated content moderation and escalation paths.
  • Review sensitive content including graphics and disturbing subject matter.
  • Utilise data to anticipate virality and potential public impact and refer cases as needed.
  • Work collaboratively and independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate quick learning and adaptability to evolving processes and needs.
  • Deliver accurate, high-quality results with attention to detail.
  • Ensure compliance with enforcement and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform general duties as assigned by management.

Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) – Sepang, Selangor

Monitor, assess, interpret and analyse content-specific data and probe it to spot trends, extract information, create risk forecasting, and report content analytics to management of functions, in order to assist the stakeholders in making better-informed operational or policy decisions.

Job Responsibilities

1. Monitor, analyse and identify content on any new media platforms that may or have violated the written laws of Malaysia and flag for action in timely manner.

2. Action for offences case

  • Need to refer Team Lead for direction on action/plan to be taken before bring-up to Director.
  • Identification of element of violations on identified new media content.
  • Develop recommendation on further course of action based on analysis and assessment.
  • Action to be taken such as content removal, blocking/ suspension, first information report (FIR) and other action where needed.
  • Prepare analysis, assessment, and report/memo/paper for escalation to other internal department and MCMC management.
  • Assist complaint assessment beyond office hours.

3. Recognise trends and patterns and elevate issues.

4. Produce and manage statistical data relating to new media in Malaysia, as and when assigned by the management.

5. To generate of articles for the sebenarya.myportal, portal database backup, maintenance, and update to ensure smooth running.

6. Build clear documentation around ad hoc analyses, methodology, and data definitions for raw and munged data.

7. Coordinate with respective law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and Ministries on anticipatory management and prevention of harmful content, including issuing alerts, referrals, FIR and content takedown/escalation.

8. Implement content monitoring activities, as well as monitoring of key events and occurrences, to ensure high level of organizational awareness, speed reaction rate.

9. Proactively identify for currently undetected misuse or abuse by leveraging internal data, open-source intelligence and third party private intelligence.

10. Review of sensitive content sometimes involving graphics and disturbing subject matter.

11. Gather, analyse and utilise relevant data to anticipate on virality and potential backlash of any content to national security and public order, in ensuring action to refer or elevate cases to other department or other LEAs if necessary, as well as to develop ways to improve overall user experience.

12. Making complicated content moderation decisions including escalations to respective web portal or blog admins, for action.

13. Use market specific knowledge, signals, and insights to spot and scope scalable solutions to improve the support of user community.

14. Use internal/external tools to review and flag user generated content (UGC) on the platform.

15. Mitigate within reasonable definitions any fraud, scams, or otherwise illegal activity occurring on UGC platforms.

16. Including but not limited to the above accountabilities/ key accountabilities.

Qualification & Work Experience

1. Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, Law, or other related qualification from a recognized university with minimum CGPA of 3.00.

2. 3-5 years working experience, with strong knowledge in technology and new media, as well sound understandings of legal and regulatory frameworks.
