The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in Cyberjaya, Selangor, is seeking a Content Analytics Specialist to monitor, assess and interpret content-driven data and report insights to management to support operational decisions.

Responsibilities include monitoring new media for violations, coordinating with LEAs, generating trend analyses, and producing actionable recommendations while maintaining rigorous documentation and data quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, Law, or other related qualification from a recognized university.
  • 2-5 years working experience, with strong knowledge in technology and new media, as well sound understandings of legal and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and identify content on new media platforms that may violate laws.
  • Flag content for action in a timely manner.
  • Refer to Team Lead before escalation to Director.
  • Identify elements of violations in identified content.
  • Develop recommendations for further action based on analysis.
  • Actions include content removal, blocking/suspension, FIR as needed.
  • Prepare analysis and reports for escalation to other internal departments and MCMC management.
  • Assist complaint assessment beyond office hours.
  • Recognise trends and patterns and eliminate issues.
  • Produce and manage statistical data relating to new media in Malaysia.
  • Generate articles for sebenarya.myportal and portal maintenance.
  • Build clear documentation around ad hoc analyses and data definitions.
  • Coordinate with LEAs and Ministries on preventive alerts and takedowns.
  • Implement content monitoring activities and track key events.
  • Proactively identify misuse or abuse using internal data and open-source intelligence.
  • Review sensitive content including graphics as needed.
  • Gather, analyse and use data to anticipate virality and potential backlash for national security and public order.
  • Make complex moderation decisions including escalations to admins.
  • Use market knowledge to scope scalable solutions for user community support.
  • Review user-generated content with internal/external tools.
  • Mitigate fraud or illegal activity on UGC platforms.

Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) - Cyberjaya, Selangor

Monitor, assess, interpret and analyse content-specific data and probe it to spot trends, extract information, create risk forecasting, and report content analytics to management of functions, in order to assist the stakeholders in making better-informed operational or policy decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor, analyse and identify content on any new media platforms that may or have violated the written laws of Malaysia and flag for action in timely manner.
  • Action for offences case:
  • Need to refer Team Lead for direction on action/plan to be taken before bring-up to Director.
  • Identification of element of violations on identified new media content.
  • Develop recommendation on further course of action based on analysis and assessment.
  • Action to be taken such as content removal, blocking/ suspension, first information report (FIR) and other action where needed.
  • Prepare analysis, assessment, and report/memo/paper for escalation to other internal department and MCMC management.
  • Assist complaint assessment beyond office hours.
  • Recognise trends and patterns and eliminate issues.
  • Produce and manage statistical data relating to new media in Malaysia, as and when assigned by the management.
  • To generate of articles for the sebenarya.myportal, portal database backup, maintenance, and update to ensure smooth running.
  • Build clear documentation around ad hoc analyses, methodology, and data definitions for raw and munged data.
  • Coordinate with respective law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and Ministries on anticipatory management and prevention of harmful content, including issuing alerts, referrals, FIR and content takedown/escalation.
  • Implement content monitoring activities, as well as monitoring of key events and occurrences, to ensure high level of organizational awareness, speed reaction rate.
  • Proactively identify for currently undetected misuse or abuse by leveraging internal data, open-source intelligence and third party private intelligence.
  • Review of sensitive content sometimes involving graphics and disturbing subject matter.
  • Gather, analyse and utilise relevant data to anticipate on virality and potential backlash of any content to national security and public order, in ensuring action to refer or elevate cases to other department or other LEAs if necessary, as well as to develop ways to improve overall user experience.
  • Making complicated content moderation decisions including escalations to respective web portal or blog admins, for action.
  • Use market specific knowledge, signals, and insights to spot and scope scalable solutions to improve the support of user community.
  • Use internal/external tools to review and flag user generated content (UGC) on the platform.
  • Mitigate within reasonable definitions any fraud, scams, or otherwise illegal activity occurring on UGC platforms.
  • Including but not limited to the above accountabilities/ key accountabilities.
