Job summary

Master Mansion Design Sdn Bhd is seeking a Backend Developer to work under a Senior Backend Developer, contributing to API and backend service development.

You will develop, maintain, and optimize APIs, manage data with MySQL, and collaborate with frontend colleagues to deliver robust software.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in CS/SE/IT and 1–2 years of backend experience; proficiency in English; knowledge of Git and deployment workflows is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of backend development experience.
• Basic understanding of backend concepts: APIs, databases, authentication, caching, queues or similar services.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and OOP concepts.
• Experience building backend features, APIs, or modules is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL and SQL development.
• Knowledge of Git, GitHub, and deployment workflows is a plus.
• Experience with Python for backend development or scripting is advantageous.
• Ability to collaborate with frontend/mobile developers on API integration and error handling.
• Strong verbal and written English skills; Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese are beneficial.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development of APIs, user management, payment, campaigns, and other backend services.

• Create and maintain REST APIs or other service integrations.
• Work with databases, authentication, caching, queues, and infrastructure components like MySQL.

• Participate in code reviews and improve code based on feedback.
• Assist with deployment, testing, logging, monitoring, and production issue resolution.
• Document API behavior, backend logic, deployment steps, and key technical decisions.
• Troubleshoot backend bugs, API errors, and database issues; support cross-functional teams.

Job description

Work closely under the guidance and leadership of a Senior Backend Developer.

Receive assigned tasks, technical requirements, priorities, and implementation guidance from the Senior Backend Developer.

Participate in the development of various business modules, including APIs, user management, payment, campaign, and other backend services.

Developing, maintain, and improving backend services, APIs, system performance, optimize backend systems, scalability, reliability, and server-side application logic based on assigned requirements.

Create and maintain REST APIs or other service integrations.

Work with databases, authentication systems, caching, queues, scheduled tasks, and common infrastructure components such as MySQL.

Integrate third-party APIs, and internal platform services when required.

Collaborate with frontend developers, and other engineering team members to understand requirements, deliver high-quality software solutions, and complete assigned features.

Participate and maintain in code reviews, write clean, readable, tested, and improve code based on feedback from the Senior Backend Developer and other team members.

Assist with deployment, testing, logging, monitoring, and production issue investigation.

Assist in document API behavior, backend logic, deployment steps, and important technical decisions when required.

Troubleshoot backend bugs, API errors, database issues, and basic performance problems.

Participate in any troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with guidance from senior team members.

Learn new technologies and development tools based on project requirements and guidance from senior team members.

To carry out any other duty & responsibility as needed for which the company may assign from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 1–2 years of backend development experience.

Basic understanding of backend development, backend programming language, and client-server architecture concepts, including APIs, databases, authentication, caching, queues or similar services.

Good understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming concepts.

Experience building backend features, APIs, applications, or complete project modules is an added advantage.

Basic knowledge and familiarity with of relational databases such as MySQL and SQL development.

Basic familiarity with Git, GitHub, and deployment workflows is an added advantage.

Python experience for backend development, scripting, automation, or internal tools is an advantage.

Able to collaborate with frontend and mobile developers on API integration, authentication, error handling, and application behavior.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Proficiency verbal and writing in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese would be an added advantage.

Able to use AI development tools to improve productivity while checking the accuracy, security, and quality of generated code.

Strong learning ability, logical thinking, good problem-solving skills & communication, responsibility, and interest in backend engineering.

Able to adapt to different projects, industries, technical requirements, and changing priorities.

Good coding habits and willingness to learn new technologies.
