Job summary

MYFutureJobs is seeking a Backend Developer on a contract basis (with potential for permanent placement) to build, optimize and maintain backend systems and databases supporting our operations.

You will collaborate with multiple business units to translate needs into scalable solutions, implement APIs, perform data extraction and reporting, and contribute to governance, testing, and deployment across the stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of backend development, software development, database management or system development experience.
• Proficient in backend programming, REST APIs, SQL and relational databases.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience with large datasets, reporting systems, dashboards or BI tools is an advantage.
• Good communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Purpose

The Backend Developer is responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining backend systems and databases to support the Company’s operational and business requirements. The role will work closely with various business units to translate operational needs into practical technical solutions, while supporting data extraction and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development & System Enhancement – Develop, maintain and enhance backend applications, APIs, system functionalities and integrations based on business and operational requirements.
• Database & Data Extraction – Perform database queries, data extraction and preparation of operational data to support reporting, analysis and business decision-making.
• Business Requirement Translation – Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate business requirements into appropriate technical solutions and system enhancements.
• System Support & Troubleshooting – Investigate technical and data-related issues, identify root causes and implement effective solutions to improve system performance and reliability.
• Testing & Implementation – Support system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment and implementation of new features and enhancements.
• Technical Documentation & Governance – Maintain appropriate system and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with data security, governance and organisational requirements.
• Process Improvement & Automation – Identify opportunities to improve or automate existing operational processes through system development and digital solutions.

Job Requirements
