Job summary

Climate Fund Managers is seeking an experienced ESG Manager to support the Malaysia Climate Infrastructure Fund and adjacent funds. The role focuses on ESG integration across the investment lifecycle, including due diligence, project development, compliance monitoring, reporting and capacity building for project companies.

You will engage with internal and external stakeholders, coordinate E&S governance, and contribute to ESG strategy.

Qualifications

• Degree in an ESG-relevant discipline such as environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or development studies. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in ESG, sustainability, environmental and social management, or impact investing.
• Demonstrated experience in health, safety, environmental pollution control, biodiversity, social, gender, etc.
• Experience in renewable energy, water, wastewater and/or waste infrastructure projects.
• Excellent technical knowledge of environmental and social risks, IFC Performance Standards, and lender ESG requirements.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal English; proficiency in Malay is a strong advantage.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

• E&S due diligence of deals including screening, climate assessments, exclusion checks, stakeholder engagement, and overseeing external E&S due diligence.
• Prepare inputs to investment papers and attend investment committee meetings.
• Coordinate ESIA and other studies during project development and evaluate consultants’ reports.
• Liaise with project partners and provide guidance on E&S management.
• Support project governance and management, including meeting participation and document preparation.
• Develop Community Development Programmes for Climate Investor One and Two Funds.
• Implement RI Policy, ESMS, and related procedures.
• Conduct internal ESG audits and prepare corrective action plans.
• Prepare ESG thought leadership materials and training for staff and project companies.
• Maintain ESG action trackers and project documentation.
