Job summary

Boston Scientific in Penang seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join a global medical technology team. You will design and detail mechanical systems, validate equipment, and support qualification activities for manufacturing equipment.

The role requires a degree in Engineering and 6+ years’ experience in automation or manufacturing environments, with strong electrical/mechanical knowledge and cross-functional collaboration skills. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years in equipment engineering, automation, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience with equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, reliability improvement, RCA, and CI projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience supporting manufacturing equipment installation, qualification, validation, and sustaining activities.
• Experience managing equipment-related projects, upgrades, relocations, and capacity expansion initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Participates on project teams to develop clear specifications, evaluates feasibility of concepts, and provides formal estimates for mechanical designs.
• Creates mechanical designs and detail drawings using CAD modelling per standards.
• Coordinates, monitors and documents project designs, estimates, and costs during execution.
• Leads project teams including Designers, Engineers and Technicians in design, assembly and debugging of equipment and upgrades.
• Designs pneumatic and hydraulic systems and specifies basic components.
• Creates, reviews, and approves required equipment documents including specifications and qualifications.
