Job summary

ams OSRAM in Kulim, Kedah, Malaysia seeks a process engineer specializing in MOCVD thin film epitaxy to own growth processes and DoE within the process window. You will work with production, process integration and equipment teams, apply in-situ measurements, and drive continuous improvement to meet KPIs. A PhD or MSc in physics/chemical engineering and MOCVD experience are preferred; relocation to Kulim is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in MOCVD thin film epitaxy growth.
• Experience with sapphire-based epi growth projects preferred.
• Roles in process engineering within semiconductor fab environments.
• Relocation to Kulim, Kedah, West Malaysia.
• Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the MOCVD epitaxy growth process and define DoE within the process window.
• Actively liaise with production, process integration and equipment teams to ensure smooth operation and meet KPIs.
• Lead continuous improvement in productivity and yield through new material qualification and procedural simplification.
• Set up procedures, qualify new processes/equipment with equipment engineers; maintain documentation per ISO 14001/TS standards.
• Lead root-cause investigations using statistical tools (Minitab/JMP), implement preventive/corrective actions.
• Understand material characterization methods and adjust growth recipes to maintain parameters within limits.

Job description

• Responsible for the process of MOCVD thin film epitaxy growth, assures the operability and operational goals by sustaining and continuous improving the processes . Key KPIs include epitaxy layer performance, cost, yield, CpK, other process related KPI.
• Full responsibility of MOCVD thin film epitaxy growth process, inclusive of define DoE within process window, implement process control. Actively liaise with production, process integration and other functional team to ensure smooth operation and meeting process KPIs. Work closely with equipment team in troubleshooting of the epitaxy tool software and hardware part with application of in-situ measurement systems (Deflectometer/Real Temp).
• Drive continuous improvement in productivity including new material qualification, procedure simplication; cross functional support with quality, hardware and etc. Able to work on local or global projects.
• Set-up procedure, buy-off and qualification of new process / equipment together with equipment engineer. Ensure process meeting required quality & standard; maintain/ update process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, material specifications, FMEA etc. in accordance to ISO 14001 and TS standard.
• Lead problem solving or troubleshooting - able to perform data mining with statistical tools eg. Minitab, JMP and able to use various methodology tools alike IS/IS-NOT, WHY-WH and etc; in root-cause investigation. Able to implement effective preventive & corrective action (poka-yoke, lean concept).
• Understanding of material characterization (surfscan, XRD, 4-point probe, SIMS, SEM/TEM, PL etc.) and the application for epitaxy process output. Makes necessary adjustments to the growth machine recipes to maintain growth parameters within the specified limits.
• Yield Monitoring and Improvement by performing and reporting failure analysis for all the process and equipment related defect using statistical tools, &leading to process characterization and improved process stability, throughput, quality and yields.

Requirements:

• PHD, Master Degree in Physics, chemical engineering is preferred
• Experience in MOCVD, experience in sapphire based epi growth project is preferred.
• Experience in semiconductor fab support, startup or manufacturing environment is added advantage. Roles in process engineering.
• Specialize in physic, chemical engineering or related technical study is preferred.
• Able to relocate to Kulim, Kedah, West Malaysia.
