ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is seeking a data-driven engineer to design, implement, and maintain the Epitaxy data landscape, ensuring high data integrity and seamless system integration. You will act as the technical interface for Epitaxy applications and work with IT owners to support 24x7 operations.

This role focuses on MOCVD thin-film epitaxy growth, DoE within the process window, and close collaboration with production, process integration, and equipment teams to meet KPIs such as yield,

Qualifications

  • PhD/Master/Bachelor in Physics, Mathematics, CS, Materials Science or related engineering.
  • Experience in data science and data landscape (CIM, Equipment Integration) and data analysis/reporting (JMP, Minitab, Cornerstone, PowerBI).
  • Able to work in a team and lead a project.
  • Strong in Data analysis, IT data landscape, Wafer Fabrication, III-V Epitaxy, Programming/coding and report automation.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia with advanced communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain the data landscape for Epitaxy operations ensuring data integrity.
  • Serve as primary IT interface for Epitaxy applications and systems.
  • Develop 1st-level troubleshooting guides and support 24x7 shift operations; escalate when needed.
  • Conduct complex data analysis to identify KPIV and support process improvement.
  • Oversee MOCVD epitaxy growth process, define DoE, and coordinate with production and equipment teams.
  • Lead problem solving using data mining and statistical tools; implement preventive actions.
  • Ensure quality documentation (WIs, control plans, FMEA, SPACE) per ISO 14001 and IATF.
  • Monitor yield and Cp/Cpk; drive process improvements and maintain growth parameters.

Job description

The ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors business offers high-performance opto semiconductor components and in-depth support for state-of-the‑art system solutions based on innovative semiconductor light sources. The Business Unit can look back on almost fifty years of production and development expertise.

Design, implement and maintain the complex data landscape for Epitaxy operations to ensure high data integrity and seamless system integration

Serve as the primary technical interface to IT system owner for all Epitaxy-specific applications and systems

Develop and establish 1st-level troubleshooting guides to empower 24x7 shift operations. Acts as the 2nd/3rd level technical escalation point to resolve complex system-related issues

Conduct complex data analysis to identify critical KPIV, derive new data parameters for KPOV monitoring and continuous process improvement. Provide analysis outcomes and support technical owners on solution setup.

Responsible for the process of MOCVD thin film epitaxy growth, assures the operability and operational goals by sustaining and continuous improving the processes . Key KPIs include epitaxy layer performance, cost, yield, CpK, other process related KPI.

Full responsibility of MOCVD thin film epitaxy growth process, inclusive of define DoE within process window, implement process control. Actively liaise with production, process integration and other functional team to ensure smooth operation and meeting process KPIs. Work closely with equipment team in perform troubleshooting of the epitaxy tool software and hardware part with application of in-situ measurement systems (Deflectometer/Real Temp).

Ensure process meeting required quality & standard; maintain/ update process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, material specifications, FMEA, SPACE etc. in accordance to ISO 14001 and IATF standard.
Lead problem solving or troubleshooting - able to perform data mining with statistical tools eg. Minitab, JMP and able to use various methodology tools alike IS/IS-NOT, WHY-WHY… etc; in root-cause investigation. Able to implement effective preventive & corrective action (poka-yoke, lean concept).
Understanding of material characterization (PL, XRD, Defect density, 4-point probe, SIMS, SEM/TEM etc.) and the application for epitaxy process output. Makes necessary adjustments to the growth machine recipes to maintain growth parameters within the specified limits.

Yield Monitoring and Improvement by performing and reporting failure analysis for all the process and equipment
related defect using statistical tools, leading to process characterization and improved process stability, throughput, quality and yields.

Drive SPC Cp/Cpk for module to meet the fab target and fulfilling IATF requirement.

  • PhD, Master, Bachelor Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Material Science or related Engineering field is preferred.
  • Experience in data science, data landscape (CIM, Equipment Integration) and data analysis/reporting (JMP, Minitab, Cornerstone, PowerBII) will be added advantage.
  • Able to work within a team and contribute as a key player, to participate or to lead a project.
  • Strong in Data analysis, IT data landscape, Wafer Fabrication, III-V Epitaxy, Programming/coding, report automation.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with advanced communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of employees.
