Job summary

Teleflex Medical Sdn Bhd is hiring an Engineering Manager for our Kamunting, Perak facility. You will lead a team responsible for preventive maintenance, equipment lifecycle planning, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

The role focuses on driving CIP initiatives, maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and coordinating engineering activities between development and operations. Expect opportunities to mentor successors and shape engineering strategies.

Qualifications

• Engineering leadership experience in manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lead cost-improvement initiatives and projects.
• Familiar with validation processes (URS, FAT, IQ/OQ, PQ) and CAPA.
• Strong knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventive maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment and audit readiness.
• Monitor equipment lifecycle and plan upgrades or replacements to prevent production impact.
• Develop and mentor engineers and technical staff based on capability gaps.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory requirements across engineering activities.
• Manage spare parts planning and inventory to prevent stock shortages.
• Lead cost-reduction initiatives and drive CIP projects to improve productivity.
• Oversee validation documentation and project progress, including scope, design and timeline changes.
• Coordinate engineering activities between development and operations teams.
• Support failure investigations, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement efforts.

1. Oversee preventive maintenance programs for manufacturing and plant equipment, including audit readiness.
2. Monitor equipment lifecycle and ageing trends, and proactively plan and execute mitigation strategies (e.g., refurbishment, upgrades, replacement) to prevent productivity or production impact.
3. Establish and drive structured competency development plans for engineers and technical staff based on capability gaps and organizational needs.
4. Ensure compliance with safety, occupational health, and regulatory requirements across all engineering activities.
5. Manage spare parts planning and inventory to prevent stock shortages.
6. Establish and maintain reports on equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
7. Review and maintain engineering documentation (equipment specs, tooling, drawings).
8. Lead cost-reduction initiatives and drive structured Cost Improvement Projects (CIPs) to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
9. Manage Overhead (OPEX) spending for equipment repair & maintenance, outsourced services, and validation activities to ensure budget compliance and cost efficiency.
10. Assess manufacturing process capability to meet product specifications.
11. Mentor and coach the equipment engineering team to build technical competencies and guide the process engineering team to optimize manufacturing processes.
12. Review and approve validation documentation including URS, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ.
13. Monitor project progress and manage scope, design, or timeline changes.
14. Lead strategic engineering initiatives, including process qualification, validation, new process introduction, product transfers, and process re-engineering projects.
15. Coordinate engineering activities between development and operations teams.
16. Support failure investigations, complaints, and CAPA implementation.
17. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance and sustain DPM performance.
18. Identify and implement technology, process, and engineering methodology improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall operational effectiveness.
19. Prepare project justifications (e.g., PEA/CAPEX) for automation or upgrades.
20. Develop and mentor potential successors to ensure continuity of technical leadership within the engineering team.
21. Act as nominated deputy when required.
