Qualifications

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to oversee the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative technology solutions. You will provide strategic and technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, ensuring solutions are delivered effectively while meeting business, technology, security, and regulatory requirements.

You will work closely with Product, Architecture, Engineering, Operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive technical delivery, improve engineering practices, and build reliable and scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities Strategy & Technical Leadership

• Align technical solutions with business objectives and long-term technology strategy.
• Lead the design and implementation of complex, enterprise-wide technical solutions, including end-to-end system integrations.
• Develop and drive technology strategies and roadmaps.
• Provide technical analysis and recommendations for project planning and implementation.
• Lead solution sizing, estimation, and project forecasting.
• Support technical audits and reviews.
• Lead technical evaluations and vendor assessments to ensure solutions meet required technology standards.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.

Engineering & Delivery

• Oversee technical delivery and engineering excellence across multiple squads or teams.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Influence technology priorities and engineering backlogs.
• Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, on time, and in line with agreed objectives.
• Drive solution standardisation, service reusability, and engineering best practices.
• Define and maintain technical frameworks and standards.
• Identify and manage technical dependencies throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Work with Change and Release teams to develop effective delivery and release plans.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence.

Architecture & Governance

• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and technology standards.
• Drive consistency in technical practices across engineering teams.
• Lead governance of application and platform-specific technical standards.
• Ensure appropriate technical and security controls are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Represent engineering teams in architecture and technical governance forums.
• Evaluate and manage vendor solutions in accordance with technology standards.

Risk & Compliance

• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Ensure solutions meet application security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
• Proactively identify potential risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Ensure technology solutions comply with relevant organisational policies and industry standards.

People & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and influence cross-functional engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote strong engineering practices.
• Drive adoption of technical standards and best practices across teams.
• Build strong relationships with Product, Architecture, Operations, and other business stakeholders.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Skills & Experience, Engineering & Delivery

• Proven experience managing and delivering complex technical projects within an enterprise environment.
• Experience leading multiple projects and/or engineering teams simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and preferably Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Strong track record of delivering complex technology solutions from concept through to implementation.
• Excellent organisational, planning, and stakeholder management skills.

Technical Skills

• Strong software engineering background with extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, system integrations, and modern software development practices.
• Ability to understand and discuss code, architecture, and technical design with engineering teams.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and scalable system design.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Problem Solving

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions in complex and high-pressure environments.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
• Ability to balance short-term solutions with long-term technology strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Relevant certifications in software development, cloud technologies, project management, architecture, or Agile methodologies are advantageous.

Preferred Experience Experience within the financial services, banking, wealth management, or other highly regulated environments would be advantageous.

Knowledge of wealth management technology or Microsoft Dynamics would also be an advantage.
