Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a versatile and strategic Head of Engineering to lead software, data, and platform development across multiple business verticals. This is a cross-cutting engineering leadership role for a hands-on technical strategist capable of building scalable web, mobile, and enterprise platforms while driving our Data & AI/ML architecture.

About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and strategic Head of Engineering to lead software, data, and platform development across multiple business verticals. This is a unique, cross-cutting engineering leadership role designed for a hands‑on technical strategist who can build scalable web, mobile, and enterprise platforms while driving our core Data & AI/ML architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering Strategy & Delivery: Drive end-to-end technical execution across diverse verticals, ensuring scalability, performance, and security for web, mobile, and enterprise applications.

• Architecture & Infrastructure: Architect and optimize multi-cloud infrastructure on AWS and/or Azure, enforcing modern full-stack engineering standards and robust microservices/API patterns.

• Data & AI Leadership: Lead the integration of modern Data Engineering (pipelines, data platforms, analytics) and AI/ML capabilities (predictive models, GenAI/LLM integrations) across key product offerings.

• Cross-Vertical Collaboration: Partner closely with executive stakeholders, product heads, and cross-functional teams to translate complex business needs into technical strategy and scalable software products.

• Team & Talent Management: Scale, mentor, and lead high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams; foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and fast iteration.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Have Skillset

• Technical Breadth: Proven background as a Full-Stack Software Engineer with strong mastery of modern web frameworks, mobile development ecosystems (iOS/Android or cross‑platform), and complex enterprise applications.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Deep hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and managing modern cloud architectures on AWS and/or Azure.

• Data & AI/ML Expertise: Demonstrated experience building modern data architectures (data pipelines, platforms, big data infrastructure) alongside practical experience deploying AI/ML/GenAI solutions into production environments.

• Leadership & Scale: Proven experience managing senior engineers, managers, and cross‑functional technical teams driving cross‑vertical or multi‑product delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Experience architecting multi‑tenant, enterprise‑grade platforms.

• Hands‑on knowledge of modern data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Kafka) and modern AI frameworks.
