Job summary

Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) invites qualified engineers to join our sludge treatment, water reclamation and desalination operations in Penang. You will ensure efficient plant performance, monitor processes, implement improvements and report on compliance with DOE standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Chemical / Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years working experience in related field.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, result oriented and interpersonal skill.
• Ability to lead a group of staff ranging from Senior Technicians, Technicians, Administrative Officers, consultants and contractors.
• Ability to work under pressure, tight schedule and stringent environment.
• Possess good project management skills.
• Positions offered is contract for one (1) year prior to absorption into permanent posts and subject to job performance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and monitor the operation and performance of water reclamation plant (WRP) systems to maximize treated water recovery, reuse efficiency and overall process reliability.
• Monitor and optimize desalination plant process including pretreatment systems, reverse osmosis (RO) membrane performance, chemical dosing, energy consumption and product water quality.
• Conduct process performance analysis, troubleshooting and optimization studies for water reclamation and desalination facilities to improve operational efficiency, reduce operating costs and enhance system reliability.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and recommendations for water reclamation, desalination and other innovative water treatment technologies.
• Coordinate pilot projects, research initiatives and technology evaluations related to water reclamation desalination and sustainable water treatment solutions, including collaboration with consultant, research institutions, government agencies and technology providers.

Job description

Ensure the efficient and optimum operations of sludge treatment system

Respond and conduct effluent treatment process control and monitoring effectively and efficiently and suggest any improvement

Analyze and report on the periodic checks and routine inspection to treatment processes according to the system recommendation and checklist

Ensure all treatment processes operating and perform as per operation need, cost effectively, safely and efficiently

Compile and report on monitoring of sludge treatment plant final discharge water meet DOE standard requirement

Liaise with DOE for licensing and compliance issue

Ensure all new requirements up to date and work closely with DOE

Ensure implementation and performance of safety at workplace

Provide training to Sludge Treatment Plant Technicians

Any other duties which may assigned by superior

Ensure the work is performed in accordance with the specifications and approved procedures
