Job summary

Lynas Rare Earths Ltd. in Kuantan seeks an experienced Mining Engineer to join the Radiation Safety Department at LAMP.

You will oversee REE exploration, sampling, extraction methods, mineral composition analysis, and resource classification in accordance with regulatory requirements for the ionic clay processing plant in LAMP. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Mining or related field with 8–10 years of mining experience, strong software skills, and the ability to work effectively

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining / Mineral Resources / Civil / Geotechnical Engineering and 8–10 years in mining operations.
• Strong proficiency in mining/geotechnical engineering software.
• Willing to work on site in Kuantan, Malaysia with good interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English; other languages advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee REE exploration, sampling, extraction methods, mineral composition analysis, and resource classification.
• Review geological mapping, land surveys, resource estimation, erosion modelling, and water management plans.
• Develop, maintain, and prepare reports on short- and long-term mine plans to optimise ore extraction and maximise resource value.
• Monitor OpEx and CapEx and provide engineering support for daily development and production activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, environmental, mine closure, and rehabilitation requirements.
• Maintain mining records, prepare technical reports, and support Safety Management Plan implementation.

Job description

An opportunity exists for an experienced Mining Engineer to join Radiation Safety Department at LAMP, Kuantan. He/she will oversee the rare earth element (REE) exploration activity, field identification, extraction method, composition determination, and classification in according to regulatory requirements for ionic clay processing plant in LAMP.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Oversee REE exploration, sampling, extraction methods, mineral composition analysis, and resource classification.
• Review geological mapping, land surveys, resource estimation, geotechnical assessments, erosion modelling, and water management plans.
• Develop, maintain, and prepare reports on short- and long-term mine plans to optimise ore extraction and maximise resource value.
• Monitor mining operational and capital expenditure (OpEx and CapEx) and provide engineering support for daily development and production activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, environmental, mine closure, and rehabilitation requirements.
• Maintain mining records, prepare technical reports, and support the implementation of the company’s Safety Management Plan.

Requirements of the successful candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining / Mineral Resources / Civil / Geotechnical Engineering with 8 to 10 years’ working experience in mining operation.
• Strong proficiency in applicable mining/geotechnical engineering software.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively at site, positive working attitude toward responsibility and task given.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to confidently interact with people of all cultures at all levels.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Additional language will be an advantage.
• Must be willing to work in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia.
