Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking a Test Engineer in Penang to maintain production test equipment, support product transfers, and develop automated tests. You will prepare test plans, fixtures, and software documentation to ensure seamless production ramp.

The role requires 3–5 years in electronics testing, strong LabVIEW skills, and a solid understanding of test equipment and electrical circuits. Overtime and international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of test engineer experience in electronics or power supply areas.
• Strong LabVIEW skills and knowledge of test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain test equipment/fixtures and support product transfer.
• Prepare test plan, test procedure, fixture drawings and other test documentation.
• Design and build test fixtures/systems to support production testing.
• Develop automated or semi-automated tests to improve efficiency.
• Develop SPC and GR&R plans and analyses.
• Duplicate fixtures to support transfers and ramp capacity.
• Conduct TPM on test equipment and fixtures; improve reliability.
• Train technicians on test procedures and software.
• Develop LabVIEW software for the test station.
• Calibrate test equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Perform TFMEA and release test software/docs.
• Follow quality, health and safety, and environmental policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible to maintain the production test equipment and transfer the product from AEFC engineering or to other AE manufacture site. The position will provide or update the Product Test Plan, including SPC Parameters, the Transfer Plan, the Equipment List, and the Capacity Plan. Test Engineer also provides complete automated or semi-automated tests. Furthermore, Test Engineer provides fully released documentation for the tests, including test specifications, test software specification/architecture, released BOM’s for test system and test fixtures, preventive maintenance procedure, test hardware drawings and schematics, and training documents. Finally, Test Engineer builds the test fixtures and test systems to meet the capacity plan ramp, performs the TFMEA, qualifies the test systems, automates SPC reporting, and releases the test software.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for maintaining the test equipment/fixture, supporting the product transfer and other projects assigned.
• Prepares test plan, test procedure, test fixture drawing and other test documentation.
• Design and build the test fixture/test system to support the production testing.
• Develop the automated or semi-automated tests to improve the efficiency and quality of production line.
• Develop the SPC and GR&R plan, provide the SPC and GR&R analysis reporting.
• Duplicate the test fixture to support the product transfer and meet the capacity plan ramp.
• Conduct TPM on test equipment and fixture, provide corrective action to increase the reliability of the test system.
• Training the test technician according to test procedure and test software.
• Develop the Labview software for the test station.
• Responsible for test equipment and fixture calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Perform TFMEA, qualify the test system, release the test software and test documentation.
• Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
• Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Works in a fast-paced engineering/manufacturing lab environment.
• Also works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
• Also need works on the production line or Labs to maintain the test equipment and fabricate the test fixture.
• Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand.
• Travel to international locations may be required.

EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics/Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience and/or education.
