Job summary

Lynas Rare Earths Malaysia invites a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Radiation Safety Department (By-Product) at LAMP, Kuantan. You will analyse, design, and supervise foundations and earthworks to ensure stable by-product storage facilities.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering with 2–5 years of civil construction experience and proficiency in PLAXIS and SLOPE/W, plus Bahasa Malaysia and English fluency. Willingness to work in Kuantan is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geotechnical analysis and design for deep/shallow foundations, retaining systems, embankments, and slope stabilization works.
• Plan and interpret soil investigation data to establish reliable geotechnical parameters and recommendations.
• Monitor geotechnical instrumentation systems during and after construction.
• Prepare design reports, calculations, and authority submission documents.
• Provide engineering justifications and feasibility studies for foundation and infrastructure layouts.

An opportunity exists for 1 Geotechnical Engineer to join Radiation Safety Department (By-Product) at LAMP, Kuantan. He/she will be responsible to analyse, design, and supervised the construction of foundations, earths structures, and underground facilities while ensuring that the by-product storage facilities are stable, safe, and cost effective.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Perform detailed geotechnical analysis and design for deep foundations, shallow foundations, retaining systems, embarkments, and slope stabilisations works


• Plan, review, evaluate, and interpret soil investigation (SI) data to establish reliable geotechnical parameters and engineering recommendations.


• Specify, review, and monitor geotechnical instrumentation systems including inclinometers, piezometers, settlement markers, extensometers, and monitoring program during and post-construction.


• Conduct back-analysis and interpretation of instrumentation data to verify design assumptions and ensure structural and slope stability performance.


• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical design reports, calculation packages, technical memorandums, specifications, and authority submission documents.


• Provide engineering justifications, technical evaluations, and feasibility studies for foundation systems, retaining structures, and infrastructure alignments.

Requirements of the successful candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering with 2 to 5 years’ working experience in civil construction with strong proficiency in applicable engineering software.


• Competent and familiar with engineering software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W.


• Positive working attitude toward responsibility and task given.


• Good interpersonal and communication skills to confidently interact with people of all cultures at all levels.


• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Additional language will be an advantage.


• Must be willing to work in Kuantan, Malaysia.
