Job summary

Western Digital in Malaysia is seeking an Engineer, Software Development Engineering (Embedded) to design, develop, test, and maintain firmware for enterprise HDD storage products. You will work with a cross-functional team to deliver high‑quality embedded software using C++ and Python, with CI and Agile practices.

The role involves data structures, algorithms, hardware drivers, and collaboration across servers, RAID, Windows and Linux environments, and opportunities to learn SAS, SATA, PCIe

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Electronics Engineering, CS or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of C/C++, Python, data structures and algorithms.
• Familiarity with ARM/ARC micro-controller architectures and RTOS is a plus.
• Experience with embedded software debugging tools is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, integrate and maintain firmware for embedded storage hardware.
• Implement data structures, algorithms, data paths and drivers for hardware cores.
• Collaborate in Scrum/Agile processes to bring up hardware and embedded firmware for data storage products.
• Participate in planning and investigations from problem statements to conclusions.
