BROOKS AUTOMATION MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. is seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer to join our team developing robot and automation system controls solutions.
You will create and maintain PCB layouts using Altium Designer, translate schematics into manufacturable designs, and collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to deliver complete product solutions within global projects.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic PCB Design Engineer, eager to integrate into our culture and be a key team contributor. This engineer will work with a team in the development of Robot and Automation System controls solutions for Brooks Automation.
Key responsibilities will include working with a team on PCB designs for System and Robot controllers. Work will include technical presentations and cross-functional Design Reviews. You will be responsible for ensuring proper documentation, consistent use of processes and systems, and engineering design standards are followed. Additionally, this person must be capable of working collaboratively with mechanical and software engineers on complete product solutions.
Create and maintain PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
Interpret schematics and convert them into manufacturable PCB designs.
Develop multilayer PCB designs considering signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and manufacturability.
Perform component placement, routing, fan-out, copper pours, and design optimization.
Generate fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, Gerber files and manufacturing documentation.
Define and maintain PCB layer stack-ups in collaboration with PCB fabrication vendors.
Perform Design Rule Checks (DRC) and ensure compliance with company standards and industry’s best practices.
Work closely with electrical engineers to resolve layout-related issues and optimize board performance.
Support prototype builds, design reviews, debugging, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
Interface with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to resolve manufacturing issues.
Maintain component libraries, footprints, and PCB layout standards.
Participate in schematic reviews and provide layout recommendations during the design phase.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on PCB layout experience
Strong expertise in Altium Designer and Gerber viewing tools
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholder requirements
Standard Windows applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351)
Expertise on Altium symbols and footprints creation and library maintenance
Comfortable collaborating with geographically distributed teams across different time zones
Flexible and willing to attend occasional early morning or evening calls to support global projects and business needs, including regular interaction with a U.S.-based manager and engineering team
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to delivering high-quality PCB designs within project timelines
Self-motivated and capable of working independently while proactively communicating project status, risks, and technical concerns
