Job Overview

Provide PCB design support to various functional groups globally, including R&D, Test development, etc. Review and analyze design schematics to plan layout of PCB components including dense multilayer boards. Layout various types of high‑speed optical communications boards such as Module transceiver, transponder, and test boards according to corporate design guidelines. Utilize CAD/CAM tools to assist in design process from schematic entry to Gerber post‑processing. Software used: Mentor PADS Layout, PADS Logic and Router, Blueprint, CAM350 and Footprint Expert. Communicate with Hardware Design Engineers locally or from other R&D sites globally (design reviews) during design process to ensure the designs fulfill the technical requirements. Perform PCB peer review on layout done by co‑worker according to corporate standard checklist. Occasionally will be required to support the CAD library work, e.g., building PCB footprint and schematic symbol per IPC‑7351 standard and corporate library guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Occasionally support CAD library work (footprint & schematic symbol building)

Qualifications

• Master or bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline
• Minimum 4‑8 years of full‑time PCB design industry experience
• Proficiency in Mentor PADS, PADS Logic and PADS Router
• Experience with other PCB design software acceptable
• CAM software skills: CAM350 (analyze, net list verification and reproducing Gerbers), Blueprint (drafting assembly and fabrication drawings)
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and execute responsibilities professionally
• Demonstrated maturity, initiative and independent judgment
• Strong communication skills to all levels of organizations globally, in oral and written form
• Good knowledge of high‑speed PCB design technology (micro‑strips, strip lines, length matching, differential pairs, micro vias, minimizing stubs, crosstalk, continuous return path, fine‑pitch SMD components)
• Some experience in PCB CAD library work
