The Electrical Engineering Intern supports the Technical team in designing, documenting and monitoring solar PV systems. The intern works on real projects — layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), site assessments, system monitoring and product testing — under the guidance of qualified engineers.
The Technical department protects system quality: correct design means fewer reworks, good monitoring means early fault detection, and proper activation means faster billing. The intern drafts, checks and records; an engineer reviews and signs off every design.
1. Design & Drawing Support
- Draft roof layouts and SLDs in AutoCAD (or equivalent) for engineer review
- Support system sizing, string configuration and cable sizing calculations, and check BOM accuracy.
- Save every drawing with its source file in Dropbox and update its HubSpot status the same day.
2. Site Assessments
- Join site visits and drone inspections; record roof condition, shading, switchboard and cable routes with photos.
- Help prepare site assessment reports and power-study data for non-domestic ATAP applications.
3. Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Check monitoring platforms daily for alarms, offline systems and underperformance, and log issues for the engineers.
- Assist with fault diagnosis and keep a clear record of each fault and fix.
4. Product Research & Testing
- Compile datasheets and comparisons for new products (inverters, batteries, microinverters).
- Support product testing, such as SOLS Life microinverters and batteries, and record results.
5. Internship Project
- Deliver one improvement project agreed by week 2 (e.g. a design checklist, calculation template or monitoring dashboard), and present it before the placement ends.
Essential
- Currently pursuing a Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of electrical principles: circuits, protection, cable sizing.
- Basic AutoCAD skills (or willing to learn quickly).
- Good English and Bahasa Malaysia; able to travel to sites and work safely at height when required.
Preferred
- Coursework or projects in solar PV, renewable energy or power systems.
- Familiarity with PVsyst, Excel calculations or AI tools.
- Own transport.
- Internship Allowance
- On-the-job training for your role and mentorship by industry professionals
- A letter of recommendation will be given upon completing your internship with excellent performance.
- Work in an agile-driven environment alongside a diverse team
- Contribute directly to improving the lives of low-income communities, as a part of a #madetoimpact organisation
