in Malaysia is seeking an Electrical Engineer responsible for preparing and reviewing electrical deliverables and conducting power system studies across proposal and project phases in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors. You will prepare SLDs, load and cable schedules, motor control drawings, and perform cable sizing, voltage drop, and short-circuit calculations using ETAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5-8 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in electrical design for Oil & Gas/Petrochemical.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles and international codes.
• Proven ability to prepare/review SLDs, load/cable/motor schedules, and related drawings.
• Experience in electrical calculations and power system studies; vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical deliverables: SLDs, load/cable/motor schedules, cable routing drawings, grounding/earthing, area classification drawings.
• Perform electrical calculations: cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit, power system studies.
• Conduct ETAP power system studies and support electrical system design development.
• Prepare enquiry documents, specifications, MTO, and cost estimates.
• Evaluate vendor quotations and prepare bid tabulations (technical & commercial).
• Develop/review equipment specs, datasheets, and requisitions for transformers, HV/LV switchgear, MCCs, motors, UPS, LCS.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Instrumentation, Process, Civil/Structural teams for interfaces.
• Provide electrical support during proposal and project execution including procurement & pre-commissioning/commissioning.
• Provide construction engineering support and site supervision when required.
• Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, project specs, and client requirements.

Job description

Electrical Engineer responsible for preparing and reviewing electrical deliverables, performing engineering calculations, conducting power system studies, and providing comprehensive electrical engineering support throughout proposal and project execution stages in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review electrical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), load schedules, cable schedules, motor control schedules, cable routing drawings, power and control drawings, grounding/earthing drawings, and area classification drawings

Perform electrical engineering calculations, including cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit calculations, and power system studies

Conduct ETAP power system studies and support the development of electrical systems designs

Prepare electrical enquiry documents, technical specifications, material take-offs (MTO), and cost estimates

Perform technical and commercial evaluations of vendor quotations and prepare bid tabulations

Develop and review electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, and requisitions for transformers, HV/LV switchgear, MCCs, Motors, UPS systems, and local control stations

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Instrumentation, Process and Civil/Structural to ensure design interfaces are properly managed

Provide electrical engineering support during proposal and project execution stages, including procurement activities and pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures

Provide construction engineering support and site supervision during project execution when required

Ensure all electrical design and engineering activities comply with applicable international codes, standards, project specifications, and client requirements

Job Requirement

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

5-8 years of relevant working experience, with at least 3 years of electrical engineering design experience in Oil & Gas and/or Petrochemical industries

Strong knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and applicable international codes and standards

Proven ability to prepare and review electrical engineering deliverables such as SLDs, load schedules, cable schedules, motor control schedules, cable routing drawings, grounding drawings, area classification drawings, and power/control drawings

Experience in electrical calculations, including cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit studies, and related power system calculations

Good knowledge of electrical equipment including transformers, HV/LV switchgear, MCCs, motors, UPS systems, LCS, and communication systems

Experience in project engineering, procurement support, technical bid evaluation, MTO, cost estimation, and vendor coordination

Able to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams

Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)

Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and project management skills
