VELLD Power System Consult Sdn Bhd is seeking a junior Electrical Engineer to support power system studies and site data gathering. You will compile inputs, develop models in ETAP/DIgSILENT, run simulations for DER projects and assist with protection coordination and engineering calculations.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, 1–2 years’ PCS experience, and proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Fresh graduates are welcome with training provided.

Compile, tabulate and review technical inputs required for power system studies, including load profiles, maximum demand, transformer data, cable/line parameters, equipment ratings, protection settings, inverter/PCS data and utility network information.
Identify and follow up on missing or inconsistent technical information with clients, consultants, contractors and equipment manufacturers.
Conduct site visits to verify existing electrical installations, system configuration, equipment ratings and other information required for power system studies.
Gather and assess site data to support accurate system modelling and engineering analysis.
Develop and maintain electrical system models using ETAP, DIgSILENT or other relevant software based on project requirements.
Perform simulations for distribution networks, solar PV, BESS, LSS, C&I and other distributed energy resources (DER).
Perform distribution power system studies, including load flow, short‑circuit/fault level, voltage profile, equipment loading, transformer/cable loading and other applicable studies.
Assess network performance and identify potential issues related to system loading, voltage and fault levels.
Perform PSS/PCS for LSS, C&I, solar PV, BESS and other grid‑connected projects.
Conduct applicable studies such as load flow, short‑circuit/fault level, cable loading and power factor requirement.
Assess the impact of solar PV, BESS, LSS, C&I and other DER on the existing electrical network.
Identify and propose suitable technical recommendations to address voltage, fault level, loading, protection and other grid compliance issues.
Perform protection coordination and protection assessment for electrical networks and grid‑connected projects.
Review and calculate overcurrent (OC), earth fault (EF), differential, REF and other applicable protection functions.
Review relay settings, CT ratios, protection curves, grading/discrimination and coordination with upstream/downstream protection.
Assess unit protection schemes for transformers, feeders, incomers and other relevant equipment against applicable utility requirements.
Perform engineering calculations including equipment sizing, voltage drop, power loss, cable loading, transformer loading, fault level, protection settings and other relevant electrical calculations.
Review study results and provide appropriate engineering recommendations.
Review single line diagrams (SLD), electrical layouts, section views, protection schematics and other relevant technical drawings.
Ensure drawings and technical documents are consistent with the study model and project requirements.
Prepare PSS/PCS and other technical reports, calculation sheets, presentation slides and technical responses.
Liaise with TNB, SESB, ST, SEDA and other relevant authorities for technical clarification, study requirements, submissions and comments.
Review and respond to authority/client comments and revise technical documents accordingly.
Attend and participate in technical discussions and coordination meetings with clients, consultants, EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers and authorities.
Coordinate technical matters related to power system studies, protection, renewable energy integration and distribution networks.
Coordinate assigned projects based on scope, priority and required timeline.
Maintain and regularly update project work programmes and work schedules for review by the direct superior.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure studies, reports and submissions are completed within the required timeline.
Provide technical support during construction and site activities where required.
Provide technical support for other power system, protection, distribution and renewable energy projects as required.
Perform other duties and engineering tasks assigned by the direct superior.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Power System Engineering/Electrical & Electronics engineering with minimum CGPA of 3.3
1-2 years of PCS experience using ETAP/DIgSILENT software
Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply as training will be provided.
Good proficiency in English & Bahasa Malaysia (written and oral).
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Adobe PDF. Training will be provided for other engineering software.
